RUMOR UPDATE: Jungsoo Lee to Take Over Nexon America- MMORPG.com News

UPDATE: We have received word from Nexon about the rumors swirling around Nexon America (see below):

Rich Williams has announced he will be leaving Nexon America at the end of the month to start his own marketing firm. We’re pleased to say Nexon America will be his first client. Jungsoo Lee, who is currently the executive director of live games and has been with Nexon America since he helped establish this subsidiary in 2006, will be promoted to lead the company moving forward.

We have begun to hear some rumblings of an as-yet unconfirmed rumor that there is a shake up underway at Nexon America. According to sources, an executive from Nexon Korea will be taking over management for all games currently being run by Nexon America and that the NA executive leadership is on its way out. For now, it seems that current and planned games in 2017 will be unaffected by the change.

We have reached out to Nexon for a statement regarding the rumor and will update this article as we obtain additional information.

It might actually mean something positive for games published in NA by Nexon. It's no secret that the company is not very popular amongst North American and European gamers because of various issues (like network problems in most of their games). Most of their major titles are also very old, both MapleStory and Mabinogi are very old MMOs, and the newer ones they've bought licensing rights to have been rather lackluster to say the least.

Perhaps this might be a good thing after all, and it might mean that Nexon NA may be able to get its hands on some interesting titles published by Nexon KR. Or perhaps it will be horrible and create a bigger mess of things. Only time will tell.

I approve of anything that takes Nexon America out of the picture.

Terrible, terrible company. Though I'm not sure if Nexon Korea is any better..

Well, whoever is going to be at the helm couldn't possibly make things even worse, could he?  Dun dun dun...

It takes a special kind of gift to drive the incredibly-successful-in-Korea Dungeon Fighter Online to the ground.  One so special that even its own creators ended up ressurecting the game in the West purely out of love despite knowing it couldn't make a decent profit after Nexon's screw-up simply because they couldn't bear to have it die such an undignified death from Nexon's amazing incompetence and greed.

Nexon could've done a lot better to support DFO that's for sure, but I think the bigger issue was that the game just wasn't popular enough in NA either. It's an arcade-style game, a genre that has largely disappeared in North America but is still wildly successful in Asia. There's hardly any Arcade stores still operating, at least compared to 15-20 years ago, which is sad.

As for Neople self-publishing the game, I get the impression it was more of a test for them to see if they could do it. I'm guessing they're still running a profit with the game at least, seeing how often they're updating it, which is great.

PLEASE, I mean PLEASE MAKE Shattered Galaxy 2 or make some major updates. I and many others have spent hundreds/thousands on that game. It is sO unique. Shattered Galaxy is the only game out there like it. Its so much fun and awesome i miss it so much. Last time I logged in it was a few afk asian farmers on... The game is desd last I checked a year ago. It was just so much fun and fucking awesome. Please Nexon bring back Shattered Galaxy. It has so much potential and it is so unique, I would love a full rework of the game. Please do something and revive Shattered Galaxy, or some company, please make a game like it. There was a similarish game like it a few years ago, forgot the name but it died in beta. It was kinda similar and awesome. It was a MMORTS kinda. It was fun and really pissed it died in beta... I wish I remembered the name... Just please look into reviving Shattered Galaxy. Its the only game ever created remotely like it. It has alot of potential!!

Which is bad because (Nexon America) Violates users privacy, not only on computer, but on (Cell Phones / Android Devices possibly Apple Devices.) Nexon installs XingCode3, with many of their games such as Hit, Dominations,Mabinogi Duel, I suggest anyone who finds any of these apps on their device submit a complaint to Google, the more complaints they get the more chance is they will remove it from the play store because it violates their developer policy and should not contain any additional software created by 3rd parties except what is described as coming with the game..... Nexon is by far the worst company out there, Great Games, but their spying on people, and Cash Shop listings I have seen over the years in their games is awful.

XIGNCode 3 is used by a lot of games and there's nothing wrong with it. It's fairly standard anti cheat software, that looks at your computer when you're playing a game and does absolutely nothing when you're not.
