A few weeks ago i made a ost here say the same game. I asked if it was going to be like wow. Well as im sure u can tell i didnt realy know that much about WAR because i was never into those types of games..... But I would just like to say that I am very sorry for saying that this would be like WOW after reading to letters about it and everything it seems like It will be a lot different then WOW. From what i have read It dosnt seem like War is anything like WOW. I hated wow from the start and With this game it is different I realy want this game to come out

I kinda hope mythic dont take too much from wow, since the fact remains, blizzard did a great deal right with wow.
However wow is so easymode, everything can be done by a 3 year old. My fear is that Mythic goes "$$$" and makes WAR for everyone aka easy and shitty. DAoC hit the spot, if you sucked in RvR, you quit after a short time. In wow, they all pharm istances. :<
Just about all MMOs and MUDs have stolen some ideas from each other, it’s part of the industry. It seems more likely that WAR will take more ideas from DAOC than any other game, though.
And I agree with WoW being way too easy, I hate that too. Death penalties (like WAR’s insanity) have the potential to fix that right up. MMOs are so much more exciting when failure comes with a cost.
My bad I was thinking in the RPG sense where you receive 6 IP's and roll on a disorder like klepto or addiction or something.
Kinda makes me wonder though if you get IP's for suicides then if you want to stay in a certain bg ASSUMING they do the bg thing instead or with open rvr.
WoW sucks as bad as the community. You suck, WoW sucks since the developers that originally made the game left, and all the new content sucks. Warhammer players will enjoy the hardcore pvp, and classes + content that actually match the race. LoL what the hell is the Horde now? There is barely a difference in looks and class of the Horde and alliance. The people that are making the content of the game now have deviated so far from what made Warcraft great.
Saying that i'm not even excited for any Starcraft games or even Diablo games to come. Sadly for the true blizzard fans the golden years of Blizzard gaming is over. Atleast we have "Brits" making quality games now. You can also thank the Brits that made the Warhammer & 40k since it gave inspiration to Blizzard to make Starcraft and Warcraft.

Just to post something from the big man Mark Jacobs himself with what he wrote on Warhammer Alliance. This should let people know that their not after $$$ and are after a great game. Might give some unforeseen insight as well. By the way, if you want to see what else the Devs have said about the game go to http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/devtrack.php. This should help a little

Folks,
A couple of comments before I get back to work on some career stuff.
1) This game can fail. Teams even better than ours have failed in all sorts of creative endeavors. It doesn't mater if your last name is Spielberg, Lucas, Wells or Mythic, you can still mess up. That's why we are working so hard to get it right and why you'll never hear me or any other Mythic dev. talk about guaranteed success or how we are going to "ROXOR UR WRLD!" or any other such nonsense.
2) We don't care about getting 5M users and we are not going to even try. If we wanted to do that we would have to fundamentally change the design of this game and throw a heck of lot more money at it. Neither of which appeals to GW or Mythic. Look, neither GW nor Mythic are stupid, we both know that if we wanted to appeal to the crowds that are playing WoW, WAR would have to be a very different game and neither of us want to do that. If that was a priority for Mythic & GW, we could make it happen but we have no interest in that. What we are going for is the "sweet spot" in creating a game that is Warhammer but not as dark, dank and depressing as it could be nor as light and fluffy as it would need to be in order to get the 5M+ crowd. Our decision to make this game about war should tell you that.
3) WoW success has less to do with marketing (which they do well) and more to do with their phenomenal success with the Warcraft brand. Warcraft and Starcraft were the two most successful titles in Korea and I believe Warcraft II (though it could be one) had the dubious distinction of being the most pirated game in China. I'm not saying this to underplay the value of marketing (which we do pretty well ourselves for a small company) but rather to point out the value in having a well-established brand with millions of players. While Warhammer does not have the same appeal to current computer game player as Warcraft/Starcraft, it has something almost as valuable, and that is millions of players of the table-top game.
4) As far as whether another game is vaporware or whether we will be too, not likely. Since I can go in today and play an Orc or a Dwarf and kick the heck out of the other side (NPCs or players), I think we are moving along nicely.
5) As far as hoping we will attract DAoC players (former or current), yeap, we expect we will do that as well as other players who are looking for more than PvE. We want to do for RvR what WoW did for PvE. If we can accomplish that, we will be very successful and very happy.
Mark
