Homestead for Elder Scrolls Online, just hit the Public Test Server and we dove in eagerly to view a few of the more luxurious spaces and see how the decorating works. Alongside all the new homely goodness, ESO is also adding furniture crafting, overhauling a ton of class and weapon skills for balance, and tweaking loads of other aspects to the game.

Will be pretty happy for this addition since this kinda stuff is part of games that I tend to enjoy more than most other things.

Do also like their approach to the housing with it being instanced but having a fixed portal locale. Reminds me of EQ2's setup which worked pretty well to me.

I agree with the whole "centralized auction house" idea. At launch and the first couple of updates Zenimax openly stated design choices such as limited ui's, reduced add-on capability, and even individual local guild vendors as being made in an attempt to maximize immersion. Yet, the past year + has been a change away from such notions so it's about time they just gave in on this issue as well.

Sadly its a money grab. And they dont offer anything at all beyond a nice instance to walk around in. And thats if youre willing to spend the in game gold or crowns to get one big enough to walk around in.

With no storage no armor stands no Ah access and a very limited number of people allowed in each one at the same time what should have been the natural progression of the game might actually set it back after it did the near impossible and resurrected itself from its horrible launch.

Everything involved with housing is expensive. Yet they offer ZERO perks. Other than a free portal. And if you buy one with crowns and bypass the DLC necessary to buy it that isnt even true as you will be kicked back to wherever you entered from.

I am positive storage will eventually come and more than likely it will be behind the sub wall (like the crafting bag is) or it will be for sale in the crown store.

This addition should have been so mush more. It was their chance to get people who quit to come back and maybe entice people who never tried it to check it out. But I surely dont see this offering coming anywhere near that goal.

Yes the long time players who already love the game will sink crowns and in game gold into it, They might even get a few window shoppers to spend a few bucks on crowns here or there but I cant see this being a long term solution to retaining people who arent already playing the game.

So I guess that makes it like every other MMO expansion over the past few years.

My favorite so far is the Hundig's Redguard walled house.

Good mix of interior and exterior with the architecture I find the most appealing in ESO. The gold cost of that one is 1.2 Mil so I could even afford it with gold instead of crowns.

    It's this one:

That one is the best bang for the buck to be sure. But its still all relative. Of the big ticket ones Serenity Falls has the best exterior but interior is meh. The pirate island one is the best over all, hard to say what that one will eventually cost. Probably a store/crown exclusive since its listed as special along with the crater one.

But they need to up the limit on 'special' decorations too. can only have 5 pets/mounts in the manor sized instances, thats inside and outside. The starter apartment you can only have 1.

The whole thing is just off putting to me. Too limited and clearly monetized and will most definitely get more monetized going forward. Some of that might be overlooked if it wasnt so limited in basically every aspect.

4 nice small homes i like with indoor and outdoor space in the 54k - 71k range. I agree that there needs to be more function to them in the future. For my needs and budget, 1 or more of the small homes will allow me to enjoy what housing is now for a minimal entry fee.

That's a bizarre rant - housing would never be aimed at getting people back its aimed at players who actually play at least occasionally.

I might have to go back and give this another shot. ESO kind of lost my interest because it doesn't allow mods and mods are what make the TES games so fun to play for me. Not entirely sure if them adding houses will make up for the lack of mods being present. I know things like combat mods wouldn't have been possible but custom clothing and character models should have been allowed.
