Love ESO. While this is pretty I'm not sure I see the function in this. Why do it?

Now if we could have vendors like UO home venders to sell our crap to visitors then I could see this.

    Maybe I'm missing something here.

I think it's to give you a better sense of your character in the world. Probably for people who, if not role players, would like to immerse themselves in the world. The idea that your character has a place to "be" can be important.

You really had to put humor in the title? I thought TheHiveLeader was synonymous with humor...

For those familiar with me, yes... But for those who may be looking for legit information regarding housing in ESO? Not so much.

Since this was simply a skit and gave no real information regarding the housing in ESO, I felt the need.

You had a premise and you went for it. I was hoping to see some cheesy ghost graphic on the haunted house one :D
Did get a laugh at you being surprised Mansions didn't have easy, small price tag. It was funny tapping in to that entitled, whiny crowd we get here so often.

You should have also included a skit saying that you wouldn't be able to obtain everything immediately in one day, without any effort they would have loved it!

Great video lol. For gods sakes guys, you may not like housing, but alot of people do. It matters to have a place in the world. The thing I'm hoping is that it's not yet again more of those damned "hooks". Screw the hooks scenario. If it's as good as EQ2, then maybe I'll start playing again. But I'm betting it isn't.

Moirae, Good news it's not hooks! It's actually a really fantastic system. Freeform placement and you can actually even clip items as well. Watched one guy make a cool looking Gazebo out tables and other various furniture pieces, and another make a jumping puzzle with floating platforms. There is gonna be alot of really cool ideas.

It's mostly fluff, but people love that kind of thing in games.

Why have a home in a single-player RPG (ergo Elder Scrolls III, IV, and V)?

It's better. And they are even going to expand on it in the future.

I wish home ownership had vendors to sell goods and extra storage space (like extra banks). I don't see the reason to buy a home.

I love ESO so so much. I thank the heavens above that this game was made. It does not have everything Id like to see in a game, but at least its honest to its soul and it feels like the people making ESO actually appreciate their players.

    On another note.
Big mansions are not really my thing, in my world bigger does not equal better.
A small little witch house in the forest would be lovely, hope there will be one or a couple of those too :)

Wonder why its so dark inside the houses though, apart from the beach one, that has a little light on the terrace.

Looking forward seeing how the furniture and other additional things for the house turns out.

They are putting content from the other Elder Scroll games into ESO. Those games have housing so this one has it also now.

Great video HL, even better than the Protostar housing commercial was for Wildstar

Different strokes for all those folks out there, maybe? I, for example, love housing, and love ES, so obviously haven't touched Firor's pile of cr.p yet, not with a 10 foot pole   (even if it got tweaked a lot from his original vision luckily).
So, for me maybe this last tweak / update will be the proverbial straw on the unfortunate camel's back, for opening my box and installing ESO for the first time.

Do it, it isn't perfect by any means, but it has a LOT of work and money put into it, it's monetized fairly, it's pretty and it's fun too.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

Non-craftable player housing storage chests incoming to a crown store near you. Besides Han Solo, who else has a bad feeling about this?

But worth returning to eso, can't freely customize a character after it has been created with our subscription ^_^.... Now they add housing which looks great, but what can I really do with the house anyways can I trade goods with other players etc.?
  • WraithoneWraithone Member RarePosts: 3,806
Yet another funny video. But housing in ESO isn't nearly as over the top as in Wildstar. I've seen people spend more time on that, than playing the game ^^

    Storage?

Probably the worst housing implementation of all time. Simply because so much was expected and they delivered maybe the worst option possible.

It has absolute zero functionality beyond a free port, and even then if you arent a sub or dont own the DLC where your house is (you can buy them for crowns in the store to bypass it) you dont even get the port as you will go back to where you came from if you try and leave.

Add in no storage, no AH, no armor stands, no anything to make them feel 'alive' and its basically a window box or a diorama. That stuff should be a bare MINIMUM to this. the 'fluff' should have been bards or servants or roaming guards akin to Skyrim. Along with book shelves and trophies. Stolen and laundered items should have been a fluff option as well.

As far as decorating them the prices of mats will make the price of the initial house, even the manors, seem cheap. Of course they offer many items on the crown store. Cups area cool 4 bucks each.

So housing is a complete disaster. At least at release. I am sure it will be monetized even more than it will be when it goes live as it moves forward and they start offering the things that should have been in it from day one. They only had 3 years to figure it our. Thats why the defenders of ZoS claiming it is going to take more work to implement some of those changes (if they do get made) are a laugh.

I suspect they will eventually have it behind a couple walls. Some of it behind a sub wall (which isnt horrible) but more of it will surely be behind a crown wall.

This should have been the update to bring back some of the 6.95 million people who dont play anymore (assuming their claim that 7 million people have bought the game is accurate) and maybe bring some people who havent bought it yet into the fold. especially if they run a Gold Edition sale in conjunction with a crown deal and for the trifecta introduce a new crown tier, something like 15000 for 99.99 (regular price) but for the 'usual' 40% off deal they would showcase them at 59.99 for 15K crowns. Some of that is still possible but the housing isnt nearly as immersive as it should be and not nearly good enough to bring people back that left for the very reason this update highlights.
