Derek is doing well at deleting the complaints too.
We all have our opinions. I play a lot of MMos and started in MUDS / ROMS. I still play Eve online as well.
I feel this is one of the better games out there. It isnt released yet, though some dont agree, but there is still a lot of work being done. It is playable, it is fun for me and Im sure others if they like a challenging game.
If you are into immediate gratification, this is not the game for you. Well, except at the start of the game like all games.
Things are being tweaked still for improvements so some things are going through the swings you expect from a game in pre release.
I am glad you are enjoining it.
Though most of us who bought a package (me included) don't have a problem with the Alpha state of the game, though to be fair by now the game should be fully released.
What we have problem with is the game design, and some of the features.
Personally I don't understand what SotA is trying to be, for me there is a huge flaw in its core design that transcend every issue arising from its Alpha state.
For me something I cannot get over with is how small the zones are, they are really tiny.
I'd like to hear from you what do you like about this game, what makes you play it, because I tried several times myself and could not last very long, and I am usually very patient, particularly if I spend money on a game.
How can you build a game to the best of your ability if you don't even know how much money you have to go on?You can't so what happens is they set out to design it in a cheap lower cost fashion all the way through it's design.
I like some of what i saw all sorts of little ideas and interactions but simply a dated game.
You NEED voice overs and npc models look very dated like they are out of an EQ1 game.
A few will be happy with tons of reading lines but imo it is not a good idea,it will bore people to the point they try and ignore the reading,if they can.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
A couple of my favorite things are:
1) There is no limits based on class type. You pick the skills and play what you want - then can switch out your decks and change to what you want to do or need to do for a group.
2) Healing is a bit tricky as is "holding aggro" it isnt that easy and you need alternatives. Thinking of what those are become strategic for me.
3) I may be really good in one area and crap in another. Its all about how I am set up and prepared for the area. It isnt one deck fits all or one set of bonuses. again, have to pre plan a bit.
Crafting is ok, but the amount of resources needed to make stuff has the economy messed up currently. i suspect this will be fixed soon. So I like the crafting and harvest but the amount of resources needed is not concurrent with the amount of gold one can get and the economy.
Those are my things I like about the game. And usually things i dislike about other games. I myself am not into immediate gratification. Edit: Like a lot of MMO's most of the time the reasons we stick around is the friendships we have formed in the game. I play with a really good group of people as well. So there is that component. A lot like Eve for me in that regard.
