Last week was a big one for the Path of Exile team with the huge announcement that one of the most beloved ARPGs will soon become a truly multi-platform game. In addition, the amazing community talent competition came to a close with so much awesome work that Grinding Gear has decided to hand out even more prizes. It was a great week to be an Exile!

I own Diablo 3 and I've completed both expansions but I must say Path of Exile takes it out of the park. It's essentially the lovechild of Diablo 2 and something diablo 3 failed to envision. I'd say it is indeed the best multiplatform ARPG.

Strictly a matter of opinion.  Personally I find both Grim Dawn and Diablo 3 much better.

If it came out on PS4, I would try it again, but I hated it on PC. I actually hate D3 on PC as well, but love it on PS4.
For that matter, I wish Marvel Heroes would come out on PS4, also lol.

If horrendous RNG-based itemization and inability to switch weapon without re-leveling new character is considered the best game today then the industry is in a very deep crisis. Or aRPG players are ready to consume absolutely anything - just like McDonald's customers.

    Thank you for your time!

Logged in back on Saturday i think it was and the overhead locked camera pointed me directly to the exit door. This type of game design needs to go,there seems to be a distinct obvious stereotype in genres, locked overhead camera, spam combat, ancient tiled maps...not good.

Moba's fall under the same design but a tad slower ,less spam but not much less.

I think all this spam gaming is causing a disease in gamer's because the last year i watch Twitch streamer's they are nervously mouse clicking the screen for no reason at all.it is like all these gamer's are developing a nervous twitch "pardon the pun" habit.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Path of Exile is the best ARPG out imo, with that being said it's nowhere close to perfect, and it can get quite boring.

I've been playing on and off since 2011 and I keep going back, and I continue supporting them.

The $500 supporter pack I purchased a few weeks ago I don't regret buying, same with the plenty of others I've purchased through the years.

Just a shame it's been announced on Xbox, I've never been an Xbox fan.

    As a side note, I played D3 on PC & PS3 (haven't got PS4 version :C) and I preferred the console version.

This game however, is going to be practically impossible as far as I'm concerned to port over to consoles.

I can't imagine how brutal trading is going to be on consoles.. it's bad enough on PC.

Yes it is out multiplatform and the article is still correct. PoE is what D3 could (should) have been. The two are not even a close to comparable.

Then I'm truly glad that Diablo 3 decided to branch off and do its own thing, because PoE managed to create a similar atmosphere of D2, but they definitely didn't bring the fun along with it, imo. So boring.

I just can't stand the end-game requiring those maps in PoE.  Too much of a hassle for those of us who like to solo rather than go to a mapping party (where maps are maximized due to how the party exp system works).

Also wish they'd let you zoom out farther.  Last time I loaded up the game, I felt claustrophobic.

Have you seen the Atlas system?

    Best =! most.

if best = most then the "best" restaurant in America would be MCDonalds. . .

I'm hoping the opening of the game on Xbone  will finally get GGG off their rears and give us a trade system that doesn't rely on spambots in tradechat or third party websites.

RNG based itemization and trading is why people prefer poe over D3. I don't know what you mean with the weapon switch thing. You can have 2 different weapon sets equipped at a time. You can also use 10-20 orb of regrets which are quite cheap to respec from maces to axes if that's what you mean.

The game isn't perfect, but i sure like it a lot more than grim dawn and D3. This game does things a certain way (close to D2), and a lot of people love it for that; that's why it keeps expanding its playerbase and doing so well.
  • WandrisWandris Member UncommonPosts: 32
PoE has far surpassed every other ARPG ever created. A game like grim dawn is no doubt a good game and even D3 high quality, but they are both limited in scope and D3 has had some seriously bad design decisions. What makes PoE a very exciting game right now is they have only ever been ramping up in terms of development and staff which has lead to fleshing out of every aspect of the game. D3 was successful not because it was a good game but because of the strength of its IP and player expectations from D1/D2, and blizzards other titles but it was a major disappointment and continues to be so even after the salvage job they did post RMAH. Now PoE on Xbox is a very good move, as can give them a huge win and success which will only be good for the PC version as well, and they have done this without affecting or slowing down the PC content.

    Not quite.

Lets say you want to play an ARPG, and you have a platform that PoE is not on, but D3 is.

Which one is a better ARPG for you?

So when considering "what is the best *multiplatform* game" the one on more platforms certainly wins out.

Also Subway has more locations than McDonalds

Im not gonna argue semantics with you, you get the point ( or maybe you dont )  about the analogy with MickyD's.

And PoE is the better game. even if one could only play it on Deep Blue. . .

I don't own an XBO but this is great news. GGG knows that going multi platform will bring a lot more people and a lot more money. I will wait for a PS4 version.

Gazillion should do the same with Marvel Heroes. I love MH and i want it to be more successful but it needs to be ported to PS4/XBO. The average population on steam is less than 1.5k people. That is not good for an mmo.

Path Of Exile and Diablo 3 are both great games that I just could not get into.

With the downgrade to Lineage Eternal my main focus now is Lost Ark.

Must say though I did enjoy that MU Legend beta. =)
