I have put more hours this year in BDO then I have in any other MMO. Fantastic MMO for a specific playerbase.

100% bullshit.  Those items are not good or important, and certainly not comparable to items you get from traditional dungeons in MMOs.  People absolutely do not group up "all the time" for these places.

    You are misleading people.

And just because you've navigated around the many institutionalized annoyances in the game does not mean they aren't there, and they are the only point of the game since there is no endgame to speak of.

Endgame is the biggest travesty to happen to the MMO genre anyways. The game is just fine if you have no issues enjoying the ride.

BDO can be great if you're casual and don't give a fuck about "getting anywhere" or any semblance of group content.  But it's not accurate to say the game is not missing anything or has some triumphant "endgame vision".

If anyone reads that and believes it, they're in for disappointment when they get to BDO's "endgame".

I like the list for broad appeal games.

But I wish there was a small fry list as well.   For the games that are good (READ:  I like) but don't make sense to be there (because of their size/investment/similar).   For instancs:   Screeps,  and Haven and Hearth.   Though those being on the list serve no purpose o:)

Terrible year for MMO/MMORPGs. I notice that "none of the above" was not a choice, if it had been, it would win.

Archeage hands down. These other games are all garbage with the exception of Eve.

I voted ESO, as it's the one I've spent the most time in. Not to mention the various updates and changes which have overall made the game much better (with a few exceptions).

Runners up for me would have to be The Secret World, WildStar, and The Division.

FF14 is the best MMO at the moment. Great community, nice graphics and pve content is awesome!
  • BisloboBislobo Member UncommonPosts: 27
ESO is growing which is rare in mmos nowadays. My vote goes to ESO.

ESO has become a fantastic mmo for two of the biggest player bases, casual pve'ers and rp'ers. Neither of which I fall into, yet there's no question that it wins with the poor performance of recent mmo's.

Its only good for rp if you are playing as ED, if you are playing in one of the other factions you are fucked finding roleplay. Especially if you are Daggerfall Covenant. Not everyone wants to be a Nord, Dark Elf or Lizard.

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

ESO is a pretty solid game right now. I am liking BDO the best on that list atm, but I can certainly understand why ESO has more appeal to the masses.

ESO is terminally boring. No risk vs reward just a quest burner. I find myself trying to solo group dungeons out of boredom if I ever log into the game. And of course there is no enhanced loot on dungeons trash mobs despite their difficulty, sigh.

I voted BDO due to it being by far the most innovative. The pve and loot system are pretty weak which have me not playing it currently. WoW Legion is def number two. Honestly there hasn't much released or much to be excited about.

I haven't played another game since ESO came out on Xbox.

I've watched these players choice polls for a few years and this is the first time I've thought a game really earned my bothering to participate and vote. BDO changed what I expect from the open world of a MMORPG, and it has gotten more fun instead of less the farther into it I've gotten.
Definitely the best MMORPG I've played in a few years.

Surprised Neverwinter wasn't on the list. Cryptic is moving the game in the right direction. Hopefully they will add a collectables system similar to ESO then it will be top notch.

EQ2 after 13 years still better than all the short lived crap they throw out these days

EQ2 would be good if it didn't have the stupid hide mount while in combat feature or perma hide mount that makes your char look like he's moving a billion mph... Its annoying and from an immersive perspective prevents me from playing... I know cant be the only one out there that hates this "feature"...

I voted GW2....mostly because the most recent season was enough to pull me away from Legion. I'd give ESO a shot if the combat didn't look so weird whenever I watch a video. Just seems like it has no weight to the actual animations.

Also....rest in peace Asheron's Call. My first mmo. Really sad to see it die. Really wish standing stone could have gotten the rights to the IP.

This is a bit unfair because I only play one MMO- but ESO for sure! They just keep improving things, and 1T has made it even more amazing.

ESO definitely, even if I can't really commit to it like I feel I should.

Something is "missing" that I find hard to nail down. I guess one way of putting it is that the game has everything except the sexy :)

Even so, it's the most complete and wholesome of the modern MMOs.
  • KyleranKyleran Member LegendaryPosts: 44,057
Decided to go with ESO. They continue to do a good job updating the game in a positive manner, even if a few actions are considered financially predatory by some of the player base.

The only two games I keep returning to for the last few years are AA(can't let the critters die or lose my house spot!) and pre-Legion WoW.

Not that I haven't tried many of the ones on the list but between all the actiony combat that devs are shoving down our throats(which I really don't like, I'm too old for twitch gaming), a style that didn't do it for me, or just bored with the whole rush to endgame nothingness and prefer games where I can just go fishing, farming, etc instead of jumping in a queue or waiting on a clock to go beat on the other faction, while trying to loot enough mats to make yet another soon to be useless piece of equipment.

I don't want just a mmo... I want a world to waste my leisure time in.

I'd say ESO if you could just earn all the items in game instead of buying crowns, crown crates, and everything else they put in there. The crown store is out of hand on top of the sub fee.
