She was sort of playable in the past, but I felt this massive update was her one critical opportunity to get some attention from the developers. She’s just not super popular. Luckily, the update was actually quite good to Laura, so I want to take this week’s column to share what I’ve put together to get the most out of the character.

Question any thoughts on this update period so far the response on Steam has been pretty toxic with many veteran players hating it. So what is your thought on it? I haven't had a chance to try it yet because the game is under maintenance right now

So I just started playing right before the update and very little experience with the game since it released and I am actually really enjoying it . The update made it a lot easier for new people to play and I guess some of us returning from a long ago players.

Most of the videos I have seen, the biggest complaint about the updates is the lack of mobility in the characters now because everything is on a timer and of course the new use of the traveling specialty, like my little pink moped for Deadpool..Lol

Also there was some complaints about the lack of being able to upgrade or get costumes with prestige, but i haven't gotten that far in the game yet.

It's a shame that Wolvie is kind of crap now. At least she rocks! Been playing Rocket and Loki and Thing. Loki REALLY got god mode now.

I heard Rocket is a great toon to play, but the complaints now are that the turrets can be broken by anyone and they dont last very long during a fight, you are constantly having to replace them.

True. No need to have them right now, but Big Flarkin Gun, Groot, and other gun skills make up for their lack. I hope Beast's drones last longer.

I logged in to take a look. So much has changed I decided to come back later before getting into it. Major change like this is always risky as a lot of players hate change. It becomes something of a ritual, you get use to the game. You login, play the game for awhile, then logout. Now you have to relearn what feels like a different game.

I really liked this game the way it was. I hope they did the right thing and that I can still have fun playing it without micro-managing everything, something which turned me off from STO.

I liked this game but I stopped playing it because I kept wishing I had a bigger safe box to keep all the stuff I was getting and extra heroes I might want to play and such. One day I got fed up of sorting what to keep and what to convert then I just gave up.

I don't like the inventory management mini-game either and have stopped playing a number of games because of it.

Stash is their primary money maker right now i believe so probably not a lot of change coming with that. I know at one time you could have normal stash (most expensive), crafting, and hero specific stash (cheaper). I think they dropped the crafting stash because they want to rework the crafting system more. but the other 2 still require real money to buy unless you save up 600 shards which takes forever.

Guide to Marvel Heroes 2017: Uninstall.

No update has ever made me quit a game faster. So sad I invested time and money into it.

Oddly, this update made me seriously play for the first time ever. To each their own.

People are averse to change. There's far more good in the update than bad. But there are also a good deal of bugs and balance issues to consider. A lot of it also depends on the state of your main character post-update. Some turned out better than others. I'm enjoying the update, but I want to see the new item game come in sooner rather than later. This update took way too long to come out and I don't think players are going to have the patience to wait that long for the new item chase.

Great write up Mike. Thanks. I like to read your hero and build ideas. They help me look at my other builds too.

i uninstalled this afternoon after over 2500hours in the game.
they took a direction for the game that i absolutely hate and i'm honestly not surprised anymore after ryolnir and brevik jumped ship.
i was a little bit worried when the two of them left gazillion but decided to stick around until the 'biggest update ever' to make up my mind.
    welp i'm officialy done !
though i can't honestly complain after that many hours played on a f2p.
couple hundred dollars spent for over 2500hours of entertainement is more than you can ever dream of nowadays when it comes to video games

loki while "god mode" (pun intended? :P ) is the most confusing heroe by far , some talents change some spells , u enchant your sword with different elements that do different things im still wondering how to spec him @.@

a video of the char would be appreciated on the Avengers training room (vs boss for example to show off the rotation ) reading it is hard if u never played it and doesnt show if its fun or at least looks fun :D

eh. That's a pretty dismissive way of looking at it that many express. Were all of the people that abandoned SWG after the NGE simple averse to change?

There are far too many unhappy with the overboard movement changes, simplification of the game and lack of content for a very long period of time. Add in that many of these changes and lack of content updates were likely precipitated by the leaked console release and people have reasons to be very unhappy.

The movement charges change + 1 sec cast time for travel power gets to me after about 30 min of playing.

The artifact & unique devalue was disappointing considering the time it took to farm some of those. Omega removal also feels like a kick to the below parts because that took 1 year to develop, was hyped during that time and was never finished before it was scrapped.

I do like a couple heroes more now but like MikeB said some heroes got more love than others.

I'm gonna wait a few months to see where they take it.

    It is much better.
People wanted to spam dash move endlessly like before, which was kinda stupid. Now they must use travel power. So they complain. It is really no different if you used travel power before. Im a veteran player with 2k hours and i took me 30 min to adjust to movement changes. For a new player it isnt even an issue.

Game is much more streamlined and, as you can see in article, it is much deeper than before. The artifacts were retuned so people need to adjust. But they dont want to, so they complain.

Now there are some issues with less "gimme gimme gimme" attitude in f2p model but it is still pretty good overall. I would say droping 10 bucks would set you loooooooooong way if you buy stashes.

While there's still significant inventory management, you'll be glad to know that the base crafting elements have been cut down to just 4.  And it looks like they stack past 100.  That's down from like 16 different elements that only stacked to 10.  It's such a difference that they no longer sell stash just for crafting, and converted any crafting stash you bought to normal stash.

For clarification, crafting materials stack to 1000.

There have also been some other light improvements to inventory management:

You can choose to vaporize up to cosmic rarity slot 1-5 gear as soon as it drops for credits & pet xp.

    Starktech cubes were removed.

Boosters have been condensed. You no longer need rare item find or special item find.

Costume Cores now have their own slot, separate from your costume.

Visual items (like sprays) now have their own gear slot.

It's also worth noting that they will be adding a costume closet, so you won't need to carry alternate costumes once this happens. In addition, there is supposed to be a future update to relics and runes.

We had a game were placing your points in any skills you wanted so you could realy play it your style was the fun

It took me long for all my Toons to arrive with each at the balance i wanted but i had fun Toons to play

Now i have Toons with skills i dont want or not my style of play with boost for skills i dont use /or like and missing boost for skills i want

Now its like Starwar Galaxy after the BIG change

ALL the same for every Toons or almost the same

Now most of my Toons keep diying none stop even after 10 differents change of skills/and boost
The easy boring " THE GAME "decide for me cause I gess to many players were to leasy to work ther points skills by try and errors So the game make it easy for them now

    Thanks for the additional detail!

looking forward to the costume closet, as for me they've almost taken up a whole stash unit on their own.

Your comment is so funny I forgot to laugh.
Wolverine became better, hello? He was utterly garbage before BUE now he is in a great shape.
Fun new skills and DPS and TTL (tankiness, its a mh slang) is pretty good.
