This article should highlight why a smaller player base per server (not 1000s) is ideal...

None event honestly, my expectation is that it will be DOA, a case of 'blink and you'll miss it', its a game that is trying to squeeze into a genre that is already struggling, and not to mention already over full, ark survival evolved the new conan survival game, and a whole raft of others that i really can't be bothered to look up, i just don't think there is really enough interest in that particular multiplayer niche that it could possibly result in D&L being a success, its a day late and a dollar short. O.o

As a casual player it was off my radar but because of the changes is now on. It has become a game to watch as it develops.

My entire guild is hyped for this game, huge server size initially during early access or not.

Its definitely not going to be some kind of "next big thing" but if it does completely fails, at least people who didn't know who Snail was in the west will be introduced.

DnL is without a doubt going to be the biggest most epically dissapointing title of 2017. It already scrapped the mmorpg portion and will continue to deteriate into the abyss of #snoofests

WAs so exited when it was announced, and now I can;t even stand the site of the game .

Lol, I guess you think if it fails in NA then it's dead lol, they have the whole of China and a vast following.

Age Of Wushu still has millions playing in China. At one point it was 18 million plus, NA is not the be all or end of the MMO market.

    Typical NA box mentality.

Can't wait to see how many nice bases are scattered around that huge map by those 60-100 people....Sarcasm

Eastern Players have a different perspective on gaming as does the US.
Just because they like it in China, does not mean we will like it here in the US.

We are talking about the US player base, not the Chinese player base. Who cares what they play over there? It has no merit here in the US.

Look at all those "Asian" grind fests listed. 98% have NO US players because we just don't like the "Eastern" style.
LOL, I guess if you think it succeeds in China it must succeed here in the US?

    Typical Eastern box mentality.

PS. I played the original DnL 11 years ago in Alpha.....it failed badly.
From what I see them doing they are leaning on a Deja-Vu. :)

Doesn't really need to be sarcasm IMO. I will admit that I hope they end up with a couple hundred players per server (exact number has not been set in stone, of course) but with a "build anywhere you want" feature with preexisting content you don't want a ton of people per server. It would be a cluster where world cohesion is concerned.

Being a survival MORPG may be a put off to some but expecting a MMORPG server size with the kind of game features we know DnL to have just isn't feasible.

Think I will wait some months after EA, for some tweaking guides, fps/lagg fixes. And after the first big wipe cause of exploit. Than im in!

Well , to be honest , when we talk about doom and sunshine's , we normally speak about EU/NA , since ........ the majority of this website are from the said regions.

It's not like I care to much if a game is successful in Asia. If I am playing a game, I am playing it on a EU/NA server. If it's doing poorly on those, then fuck it . It's a fail game.

...and , on top of this, I agree with the above poster which you quoted . At least here it will be a big fail. From a "mmorpg" game, now it's .. what ? 60 per server ? There are counter-strike servers which holds 24 ( or 30 ? ) players at the same time. So this is not a MMO anymore.

Move it to "wannabe" MMO category !

Yeah and I played the original Dnl and was in bets, plus a settler member. This is not the same game and like I said, the game may fail over  here but not in China.

I just... don't agree with this at all.
I'm sorry it's not lining up to be what you want, that's a sucky feeling.
It's probably one of the games I'm most looking forward to this year.

I don't need a game to be an MMO to be interesting or fun to play with friends.

As the old saying goes "whatever floats your boat".  If this is the type of game you enjoy, have fun, if not. don't bother with it.  I just think, considering the publisher, that the game is going to require lots of store purchases to be enjoyed fully.  Just hope you are prepared for that.

My biggest objection to the game will be to the way it will probably be funded.  Just have to wait and see.

the more i read hear or watch about DnL the less excited i am about it . i will probably still give it a go , just to prove myself once again on another hyped title to become a waste of money .
I loved Age of Wushu tbh . there was something unique about that game , so a slight chance Snail will get it right , that little hope is somewhere within me .

But to be honest the only title in upcoming years looks right is Pantheon ... i think developers of Pantheon will get things right and wont bring down ideas due to lack of funding ...

I am normally not a fan of survival games but this fantasy theme has me interested.
