If you're a gamer and a child of the '80s like me, you probably spent a fair amount of time curled up with Choose Your Own Adventure books. If you're super-nerdy, you might have gotten into some of the more advanced titles that added actual gameplay systems – dice, combat, equipment, etc. – beyond simple decision-making. My favorites were the ones based on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and Car Wars.

every few years there is a small movement to try to bring back these "text" adventures with some new spin or other. It's an extremely small niche and anyone with even the slightest form of bad eyesight will avoid it like a plague.

Some of the Tunnels and Trolls solo content was just fantastic. I remember falling into the "Pit of Endless Nothingness" (Sic) and getting this description, "Although your character isn't dead, he isn't much fun anymore.." The humor was dry and really funny.

I also miss some of the pen and paper tournament dungeons that would translate pretty well into some of the current software. Tourney content was timed and hard; usually tied to character aspects to meet with success; e.g. having a druid morph into an eagle to reach something and also be healed by the ability to recover hit points... that kind of thing.. Made for a real challenge.

The only thing that would make this more awesome would be if we could do these things as a group with our friends. I'd totally love that! As is, this sounds like it's going to be hella fun! I will totally try this out.
