Anytime somebody goes back to Archeage or BDO talking about;
"Everything is great now, I now don't worry about being competitive. I stay at level 49 and just enjoy extra curricular stuff"
I give them an automatic dismiss.
These games (or Archeage at least) were built with PVP as the foundation of the ecosystem. I'm basically seeing the statement as a concession of never being able to fairly PVP therefore settling with tagging 10 mobs at a time and AOE'ing them until they die for hours, and gathering, and crafting.
All people want is Archeage/BDO with out the silly RNG, in game shop up-selling, and some sort of reasonable ceiling that everyone can eventually get to and be even to enjoy a competitive period.
They can drop expansions, let the no-lifers and swipers race their way to the next ceiling and reasonably do it again.
While I respect the fact this guy has found his woosah in Black Desert I still sit on the bubble to even download and play for a first time because Archeage is pretty dumb, and I don't want to go through that again for a better graphic, action combat, non-instanced housing, worse OWPVP version of it... witch channel switching.
So you have not even played it? Your comments about Archeage are not far off, but BDO is not the same game. Not the same game at all. Cash shop is a not factor in BDO unless you want pretty underwear and a nice couch.
Graphics of the game are amazing, great work by the design team, and one of the reasons I tried it, but I stay for the enjoyment of the game.
If you race to level cap in BDO, you have missed the point of BDO.

Damn. I guess I'll have to download and give another try. I'm happy they did that.
