Balance is sorely needed... I'm tired of playing the same builds for the same classes over and over, and I miss the celestial amulet in PvP.
I haven't even tried any of the raids yet... I'm not sure how popular they are.. I spent a good while looking for a group the other night and the only ones recruiting seemed to be selling the raids.
There are plenty of builds out there. If you don't know what you are doing, not the games fault.
I more than most know what I'm doing. If you don't PvP you don't know what I'm talking about then. 9 times out of 10 all you need to do is look at the class list and you know what type of match you're going to have.
So no, there aren't "plenty of builds out there" if you want to be successful. Play several rounds of PVP and get back to me.
As much as I love GW2, I have to agree with you.
Most of the classes cannot compete without speccing to Elite specs, which means this already narrowing build choices for most of the classes, mainly revenant.
You're showing you know nothing.
I seen a PvP team of engineers mop up a team of warriors, some of which were in the same mindset as you. When confronted with the truth about skill being superior to class, they proceeded to message salty PM claiming we were hackers.
How often you will see this kind of win?
When I said "most of the classes," I meant not to nitpicking certain example x class against y class. Generally speaking, most of the classes only have one or two usable builds in SPvP (not WvW), mainly revenant, because it feels like it was designed to revolves around Glint (elite spec).
There I said it, is that too hard to understand?

I've liked all the content they've released since they got rid of Scarlet (and I liked a lot of the stuff they released during Scarlet, too). I feel they've now got their format for LS right and the quality of the patches is showing. Sure they come in bite-sized updates, but I'll still take that rather than an expansion every two years (of course they don't have to be mutually exclusive).

Sorry no - those are the meta builds not ALL the builds. It is easy to go to sites like metabattle and get a build and play, it is another to spend the time to actually figure one out.
Most people are lazy and then they blame the game.

Oh well, I have no obligation to convince you then.

No, it comes down to VIABLE builds. You can run anything and call it a "build"... but I don't think you understand how to play if you think any build is a viable build.
If you want to sit there and believe that all builds are created equal then you are mistaken.

Indeed, like an old saying goes, meta is meta for a reason, and the reason is viability. No matter how skilled you are, elite specs are hurdle you cannot cross, except you integrated one of them into your build too.
The only core build I ever watched that viable into legendary ranks is core power mesmer, but even that build has one severe flaw: when you got yourself into a duel, and your burst shatter missed (mind wrack), even once, you're as same as dead meat. Hence the build's nickname is one-pony-trick, as the mind wrack is the only main source of damage you can count on. Mind you this is speaking in legendary ranks cases.
Anyone can claim that "x" person won against "y" person even though x person only used core build. But that doesn't speak to the whole picture: elite specs are superior design than core ones.
When you don't want the truth, you will make up your own truth.

Sure going strong, look at the financial situation of GW2- its more like: going downhill pretty fast.
Care to give a legit source to back your claim? Otherwise, it is your reputation around here that will "going downhill pretty fast."
