Final Fantasy VII
YOU KNEW THIS WAS COMING. This has got to be one of the best all around
RPGs on the face of the earth, if not the best game. It has its flaws,
and yes, of course it has been overrated on a couple of standpoints,
but it WAS made in the 90's when games were testing their limits.
STORY / PLOT
9 / 10
A very interesting and deep story. With a strong cocky protagonist, the
story takes a wild swing with the essence of space invasion and total
corruption the government. There are twists everywhere and always has
you wanting more. The trouble is, if you don't look hard enough, you
miss the whole point.
GAMEPLAY / REPLAYABILITY
10 / 10
Have all the materia? Mastered them? Have duplicates? I thought not.
Chocobo raising, racing, breeding, getting high points on the
snowboard, battling in the submarine, arm wrestling with a sumo; all of
these and much more to do. I keep mentioning to my friends that all
these minigames could be a game on their own, and they could be. The
battles are fun to watch and every time you play this game, you learn
and understand more about the story behind the story behind the story.
So much allegory has been put into this game, it could've been a
best-selling novel a decade ago.
VISUALS
9 / 10
You all might say, it was 1997 and the polygons are what they should
be. I say, sure, but can you justify the blocky textures and the
polygons meshing with each other? The visuals are fantastic, especially
the cutscenes, but there are times when you feel it's lacking.
SOUND / MUSIC
10 / 10
Everything fits together and the sound effects are great. When there's
a sound to be expected, there's a sound, and some random effects for
the humorous parts. And the music, I doubt you have not heard the
Chocobo theme song or the millions of parodies and remixes of the Final
Fantasy III theme. Or the engaging boss battle music, recently done
live by Nobuo Uematsu and his Black Mages band. All done in midi, I'd
say it was a job fantabulously well done.
CONTROLS
10 / 10
A good solid RPG control system. Being one of the first to utilize an
all 3D environment, the controls handled extremely well. There are so
many varieties of control methods used for the minigames, it's hard to
believe it's so simple. Once again, I salute the developers at Square.
OVERALL
10 / 10
I won't say this again, but this has to be the best overall game I
have ever played. I was enthralled the first time I played it, I was
searching the second time, and as I look back, I want to play it again
just for kicks. There's so much to do, and so little time to do it in.
AVERAGE :: 9 + 10 + 9 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 58 / 6 = 9.7
10 / 10 (FFVII REMAKE IS COMING SO GET READY)
And you? What do you think about it?
Comments
And dont be ignorant, there isnt going to be a remake. Well, maybe in a couple dozens more years.
demo was made to show off the PS3's power, but it was only the start
movie to the game, an actual remake doesnt seem likely at the moment.
But who knows, anything can happen. After all the good response from the E3 promo, they have supposedly said that a remake is in serious consideration so it wont be in a couple dozens years!!
And who cares about my review being late or not?? Thats not it's propose! If you have FFVII, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!, WHAT A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, and now you'll know how good it is reading my review (if you didnt realised that). If yu don't like my review then i dont care, STFU, if you like it i dont care in the same way...

Will you be giving a review of Oblivion in 2015?
No annoying animated GIF here!
I only made this 'cause it is the best overall game I ever played and it is reason enough to make a review.
Today, games have lost so much quality that made past games memorable and that's why we cant forget them so easily. It's just like remembering those good past times...

FF7 was great on the original PS, it looks very dated now. It hasn't aged that well imho. It's because the backdrops are static, I've seen an emulated version which is supposed to enhance it but there is only so much you can do with a bitmap. Breath of Fire 3 on the other hand has aged very well and I preferred that to FF. The PC port of FF was pretty awful, personally I think FF series hit a peak with 7.
