Thats great news :D Ill certainly be logging in on the 14th to try the new hero.
I sunk about 190hrs into battlerite over the xmas period. It was very adictive.
The heroes are very well ballanced and all have a unique playstyle that takes time to master.

Wasn't it planed to be F2P from the start though? I was under the impression that buying into early access got you all the heroes and what not, while F2P people would have to unlock them, or something along those lines.

This game is really cool. I was super into it when it first came out, I'll probably go play it some more now that this article reminded me of it. The game was originally announced as F2P like the other commenters said, but a lot of people were willing to pay for it.

It was always supposed to be free to play upon completion.

I can why he was confused. Why title the article that they're preparing for "F2P Launch" instead of simply for "Launch". It's misleading by putting emphasis is on the "F2P" part.

Multiplayer Online battle Arena to its pure roots.

I love this game, but quite afraid of the impact the f2p model will have on it's community in near future. Let's see.
Listening to the salt in chat is one of the games best features !

Good, these small arena pvp games don't have enough content and content variety to justify a price tag. F2P give them a higher chance to survive the oversaturated market. Overwatch got away with it because it's Blizzard and you know there is quality behind the big B.
