Despite what some people say (mostly uneducated statements) Auto Assault is a great game.
Depth: I have seen some people concerned about the games "Depth". That's a vague request. In a whole the game has depth. Some aspect more than others. Anyone that says the game has no depth has not played long enough or, done the research to learn differently. The game not only is deep but, some complain it is to complex. Unfortunally the beta boards are gone so I have no reference to show.
The crafting in game is the most complex I have seen in any game I have played. I have played EQ2, MxO, SWG, AO, EVE, CoH/CoV, Rose, RF0, and E&B. If you really want to understand looting, crafting, and weapons are going to work listen to this.
Listen to episode 19. It's a 2 hours disscussion with 3 members of Net Devils dev team.

I have also seen in this forum someone saying that there should only be one race because the engineer class in one race is the same as another. Very untrue. With the way the skill tree works you can have two engineers of the same race and, they could be very different.
Also for me I am excited to see this loot generator at work once live. With the way it is explained it is going to add a lot of dynamics to PvP and PvE battle. Also, with all the different stats and abilities that can be added there isn't going to ever be one uber build that will conquer all. The range is to great. There will always be someone stronger.
PvP. Though I see people say it's carebear. Which is silly since the term originally was used to discribe a certain player type not a game type whatever. This is a complant usually made by people that find joy in hurting others. Regardless the PvP element of the game is not complete. What I do know is that the arena PvP will be ranked . When in the PvP arena you will have the ability to battle anyone from any server. It is a game wide competition. Not only do you get the joy of winning but, you win ingame items only attainable through PvP. There will also be tournaments for real world prizes too. Game swag, and video cards are an example.
This isn't even taking Ground Zero into account. This is where the all out PvP goes on. Though you are never forced to PvP. The level comes in 2 layers that you can switch to at will. Basically 2 instances. One PvP. One not.
If this is a game you think you may like don't listen to the bashers. Some fear change and, think things should be the same. Most just have fun bashing. Why contenue to post negative about something you don't like unless you find some strange joy in it.
So in closing take a listen to the podcast I have linked. It will answer a lot of questions straight for the devs mouth. Also remeber this is still launched. Leaving a lot of room for improvement. Also, take in account that these guys listen to there community a lot. The game was delayed 6 months just to rework it with what the tester had suggested. I was in the first wave of beta and, believe me it has made massive improvments.

So... how much are NetDevil playing to to post this little "gem"?
Or is this Steve Snow in disguise?
The system is interesting, no doubt. But in practice, it suffers from a
lack of necessity. Usually you can find equal or better equipment as
loot, so crafters are not really needed. The lack of item decay will do
the rest to kill the crafting economy - once everyone has top gear,
there will be no need for replacements.
Loot generator:
A good idea that will help to bring variety into the game. But it still needs a bit of fine-tuning. Earlier this year there were crazy fluctuations in item power, later on this got more uniform at the expense of getting a bit boring. The chance of finding really outstanding items was gone.
Carebear PVP:
Some people find fighting more exciting if the risk of losing something is involved. This is a matter of taste without a universally valid answer. So while I agree that the complaint is silly, characterizing these people as griefplayers is not correct either.
Overall, AA has almost convinced me to get a regular account, but I'd like to see a bit more polish in some aspects. Which might arrive in the future patches, so it is possible that I'll jump in after all
