    i chose the most hardcore PVP. except i like it more in teams though... or as in a RvR type. But i chose that because i think if those are in war, there should be war, and not having anything to turn a "Flag" off or such.

    I chose the 'PvP should be optional' one. Fighting other players is fun 'n' all, but sometimes you can get bored of dying/winning. What's left then? One of the reasons I was drawn into Runescape so much, was that you didn't have to go PvP, because they had other skills you occupy yourself with. If Runescape were made into a downloadable game client and taken away from the web-based java, graphics were greatly improved, you would see a lot of MMO fans flock to that. Well at least I would. I spent a good 5/6 years of my life playing Runescape, thats how good it was to me. It just lost its appeal mid last year with its repetitiveness.

    Wait.. what was the question again? ^_^;;

    PvP - like PvE - is simply a gaming mechanic. I will not play a title because it has PvP or PvE (or any other gaming mechanic). I will play a title if it matches my set of criteria and has followed through on implementation. The latter - implementation - is what has killed off my interest in MMORPGs.

    In answer the topic, I prefer structured PvP i.e. RvR, over FFA PvP. Looting? Doesn't bother me, but I do prefer death in MMORPGs - PvE or PvP - to be feared, and have consequences. One of my bug-bears is level based PvP games. I point-blank absolutely refuse to play a PvP game where someone a couple of levels above me will automatically win, irrespective of how skillful they are - simply because it is hard-wired in that a level x will always get beaten by a player y levels above (where x and y are within a narrow level band - not Lvl 60 vs a Lvl 1 :P).

    As a gaming mechanic, PvP should be implemented to fit into the overall structure of the game - not simply introduced to entice people into playing a game. There are simply too many titles on the market that tack on a PvP server to an ostensibly PvE game. I cannot blame companies for doing this because it satisfies the corpulent middle segment - leaving the extremes on both sides as 'niche' market segments.
