I want to play something fun...

HotcellHotcell Member UncommonPosts: 279

Something like World of Warcraft Level 1-60.

Now that's fun.... too bad the end game sucks balls...

I tried out a couple of MMORPGs listed based on ratings.. but they dont seem that interesting. Granted, I only give each around 4-5 hours of playtime with EVE as an exception. I can see why EVE is liked by many people.. but it's just not type of game.

Anyone has recommendations? I'm bored to death

man i'm in your same issue  : /... i'm Waiting for WAR to come out next year, but the two games i have been looking at that atleast meet some standards such as WoW is you might want to look into Lineage 2 or when Vanguard comes out. I'm also taking a look into City of villains.

I can suggest one: Martial Heroes. I got it about a week ago, and it's still looking pretty good. It's an oriental style game, made by Koreans (heads up ^_^). Pretty decent game if you like that kind of stuff. The community is.. alright I suppose. You're bound to get the odd f-nut on a free online game, but you can also add them to your ignore list (aka 'disregard' list).

4 pre-defined classes to choose from (warrior, mage, monk, assassin) each with a pre-defined gender (assassin is the only female, though the mage is rather fond of pink and other pastel colours). Huge world spanning several kingdoms, of which I'm yet to explore them all. Max level you can go to is 126, but I believe no one has reached that yet. I think the highest is 110+ right now.

If you try it out, let me know and I'll help you with some things. www.MartialHeroes.com

There's also KAL Online, but I havn't played that as much (gave it about 10 minutes attention)

Well, i downloaded martial heroes, but i cant register because you can't just write your country in to the field. How stupid is that?

You need to write the first letter of your country and then select it from the menu, but the damn field where you're supposed to choose your country is empty. A lot of people are having this problem (everyone?).

Every korean mmorpg website i've seen is total crap. Annoying flash animations, engrish, bugs, ear hurting backround music and so on.

Yeah, that bugged me for a while, but I got around it eventually. I'm from United Kingdom, so I typed in 'U'. What the heck? Where's my country? So I tried 'G', for Great Britian. Did the world forget about us? After several minutes cursing at the moniter, I tried 'United' and it appeared.

Oh, there's also FlyFF too. I played that for sometime, but then I came to my senses. 95% of the game is constant grinding. The other 5%? The time you spend vending/trying to make out the bad translations. Its worth a shot though if you've nothing better to do: http://flyff.gpotato.com

Martial Heroes is nothing unique, I can already tell by the first glance at the game ... just a game like any other crappy korean MMORPG out there :)

You do make a point. Though it is something different to 90% of the MMO's out there. None of the bulky armour that almost all the fantasy style MMO's have. No stupidly weak, unbelievable monsters (goblins, giant spiders, etc) and perhaps some realism to the MMO genre. I find it more appealing killing monsters that actually exist in real life, than some fantasy monster.

The traditional oriental clothing really boosts its worth. I really do like that kind of stuff a lot, and seeing the varied styles of clothing as you progress through the game is fun. Although, they still do have the problem with clones... Sigh. This game is still definatelly one to try out though, even if you do think its like every other Korean MMO.

I actually tried out Martial Arist. Well... let's just say I couldnt last more than 2 hours.

I would rather play iRO haha....

CoV is worth a shot I guess... been hearing good things about it (and some bad), but at least it's an established MMO.

I just cant wait until Roma Victor (the soonest mmo I think) comes out. It has promises.

Oblivion is really great..... but unfortunately with every single player game : it's beatable. I finished it a few days ago and now in uber boredom while on school holiday.

    Any more suggestions?

Have you tried Guild Wars? I'm getting it for my GF, I already play EVE and don't need her policing my perverse activities there! Since GW came secong on MMORPG I thought I'd get her that.

Yea I have. I should have included what kind of games I've tried.

    Have played :

    World of Warcraft
    Final Fantasy XI
    Dark Age of Camelot
    Anarchy Online
    EVE Online
    Guild Wars
    Knight Online
    Maple Story
    Ragnarok Online
    Ultima Online

    Not interested in trying:

    Everquest I & II
    D&D Online
    RF Online

These are the only ones I can think of atm... I think it's time for me to take a break in mmorpg lol..

  • dimi77dimi77 Member Posts: 50

Just a question why don't you want to try everquest? i'm playing everquest II and for me it's a very good game. Some say that it's even better than world of warcraft, but i can't say that because i haven't played it

PS there's a free 10day trial now. Have you tried it yet?

People say sony has a bad customer service, but after a year with SOE i hardly ever needed tu use it.

PS: maybe wait till Dark&Light it sounds like it's gonna be great game with a huge world

Maybe you should list some personal tastes in genre such as what you like/don't like. If I had the money/time I'd probably try out Roma Victor (when released) and RF online. The only one I have played that you haven't is Star Wars Galaxies and I'd advise you to avoid that like a hooker with the black death! SWG is bugged/broke beyond repair now with awful customer support. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I can see why no EQ2, if you liked WOW 1-60 I don't see how you'd like EQ2, since EQ2 is just a raid game like WOW at 60. If you want to join a corporate guild and schedule your time for raids then EQ2 might be for you, otherwise I can't see any reason to touch it.

After reading the whole thread it sounds like you maybe suffering from gaming burn out. Maybe time to take a break for a few weeks from it all.

Hehe. That is so true due to the fact that it has happened to me and that does seem to be the best medicine. But why not try EQ1? It has loads of content and despite its age is still quite fun to play(did I mention addicting too?) Although its hard to start out in the game but the noob tutorials will give you a good kick in the right direction.
