What do people do in everquest now?

Hi

I played Everquest from the original launch up until Gates of Discord. I dropped it because I cannot stand the 6 hours MANDATORY raid everyday.

It got to a point that I find it stupid to continue on because 40 men and 6 hours each day for a mission/boss was simply not worth it anymore.

But after a period of time finding the replacement for it was unsuccessful. I have been playing WoW but quit recently because in end game the same raiding routine applys again.

I have also tried almost every other game on the market. DaoC , EVE , EQ2 , FF11 , GW , RF , L2 , MxO , and even planetside. None of them offer the same grouping experience or game content like EQ1 gave me .

Recently  I heard that EQ has changed abit and all those monster missions sounds fun. I personnally like solo or small group contents and I am so sick of the 20 or 30 or 40 men raiding.

So what I am asking is "has EQ changed from all those crazy raiding contents to more solo/small group friendly?" What does a level 70 player do when they login EQ nowadays? And if I am to play from the scratch ( I am not gonna run my level 70 character and looks like a newbie so I figured I would start a level 1) is it worth it to play from level 1. Mind you I actually prefer to solo at lower levels.

    Well, lets see,  Yes the MM (monster missions) are fun,  and eQ is getting quests now more than usual so might be more interesting to you.  As far as having your lvl 70 player looking like a newb.  no prob.  The game play is no different.  Just different instances.  And not all lvl 70s raid - some of us raid and also do lots of other things.  Try it, you just may like it after a break.

    what do ppl do who have lvl 65 chars with [now] crap gear? And would you make a char from lvl 1 new again at this time ?

    I'm giviing the idea of coming back to EQ more thought then it deserves but I jsut have a feeling I will have my LFG tag up from lvl 10-69 to no avail.

    Unless you have a group of friends, then don't try starting new.  There is no real population until the 60's.  Unless you plan on making a Necromancer or some other class that can solo efficiently, be ready for wasted hours looking for groups.  There were times before I quit recently that my level 55 warrior had his LFG flag up for 2+ hours, while sayin "55 warriror lfg" in the chats.

    RAID...or they are lame second class heroes who enjoy other aspects of the game, like someone could just enjoy a sunshine without playing a computer game.

    I have learned to never say never, but me playing EQ again is extremely unlikely, I spend more than 1 year of played time, I was one of the most efficient player in my chanter realm on my server...and my character was a lame, half-assed, second-rated character.  I hardly see why I would even care to consider been lame again ever.  No thanks.

    PS: Efficiency and Raw power are extremely differents, raw power affect efficiency, but to be one of the most sought out chanter without any item giving 50 hps and closer to no FT than to FT 15 is quite an achievement IMO (that is pre-GoD), considering how backward the character was...the game is just anti-anyone who doesn't raid.  And they will happily try to fooled folks who don't raid to play their game...LOL, really...only the fools accept such a complete lack of reward and acknowledgement.  Best groupers deserve to be peoples who earn stuff in groups, and EQ will never give that, just walk away.

    PPS: Never miss an occasion to show uber raiders how much they are lames and enjoy unfair advantage, they can't even go to the bathroom alone, they doesn't deserve group or solo uberness, by no meaning LOL.  House of the Lames inc, raiders at your disposal, just join and STFU, DKP ruleset, in 3 months you start to dream for real loot, not before...this 3 months is roughtly 1k hours of gameplay before you see any reward, all while the oldest leeches earn everything at the expense of the new comers, no consideration but the leeches way...LOL...do a good action, trash some Uber Raiders today!  And any devs defending them to gain an extra 2500 points!    Solo Aradune and you get instantly you epic free!

    well i just returned to eq to mess around and there are sooo many things to do for small grouping and the new items are crazy.

    however, if you feel you need to have the best gear in the world and you don't like to raid then yeah i wouldn't come back. but i am having a blast and not going to be raiding at all for quite some time....::::19::

    This week, I've done PoR monster missions, a DoN or two, and experience grouping in OoW zones. I don't raid at all, but I still find things to do.

    How long has it been since you played EQ? You can get items with far more than 50hp and some with mana regen easily from groups in new expansions. It was a shock to me to see the kind of gear that anyone with a group of friends can get now, since I was out since like PoP or so.

    A good player in bad gear is no where near as lame as a bad player in ace gear. I would rather grp with the guy in the old gear who won't kill us all.

    It is a totally different game now at the higher ends then it was even with the GoD expansion. You also do not have to join a hard core raiding guild that raids 6 hours a day seven days a week. Our guild, Catalysts on the Povar server raids four nights a week for 2-5 hours each night. And there are other that raid less then that if it is still to much raid time for you.
