I myself still have a good Dark Elf army collected. Explanations of why you chose that certain race are always welcome .
"Time.." I chuckled "I hold no secret to time, though it's mystery puzzles me. Deny it's existence and lie to myself not with hopes of a quickened pace."
Well, i sort of played a mass majority of all of them really, But my main two were High Elves and Chaos, High Elves favored more really. great time fun.. i don't play any more considering im retired of it and keeping my record basis as is. but yeah High Elves were really the right choice for me... i will be testing out High elves.... and chaos for the Order and destruction in WAR.
My first and main army was/is High Elves. I got into Lizzardmen some time ago and recently have dabbled a tiny bit with Dwarves. My true passion has always been 40k though where I have five rater large armies at present.
I played as the Empire. I love Renaissance as a period and the Empire just had that nice flavor, plus heavy armored knights and halberdiers for the win (when i started playing there was no Bretonnia available).
I also liked their thundering cannons, the Hellblaster volley gun, the steam tank and so on.

Skaven because I thought they were cool when I started playing some 15-16 years ago (Still do!), Bretonnia because me and a buddy picked up the boxed sets and well.. there I had an army from the beginning. :P A few years ago, I realised how cool the Empire really was and considered started playing again with them, but never got started. Also, lately I read through the Beasts of Chaos armybook and was completely hooked, best looking warhammer book I ever saw, still didn't start playing again though. I'm mostly playing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Mordheim, because they provide the dark and gritty feeling of Warhammer that I love, the feeling which the tabletop game doesn't quite manage to provide.
The Empire. Poor poor humans, the true underdogs! They have to rely on technology, to stand out I've always favoured humans, because, well, i guess i can more easily put myself in 'their' situation. Hence i also play Imperial Guard in 40k
I played the Empire in the Fantasy setting, because I like the roar of the cannons, the lines of troops firing their rifles and taking down hordes of armored enemies, the charge of the calvary and mercenary, and the electricity of the mages. the Empire had it all, and could field any type of army. It was so diverse that it could do anything.
As for 40k, I played the Orks, because I loved their ferocity and brutality. Their ability to beat highly technological, magical, and biological enemies with just some metal jury-rigged into a gun and a truk made them awesome.
Waiting For: something good Games Tried: SWTOR, Star Trek Online, EQ, EQ2, Earth and Beyond, Planetside, Lineage 2, Eve Online, WoW, City of Heroes, City of Villians, Auto Assault, Fallen Earth Star Wars: Galaxies - Ibra Olasi (Valcyn Server) [Dead, screw you SOE]
I've always liked the damage and versatile yet aggressive aspect of the Dark Elves (they also look great), but I'm thinking of starting to collect a new army. Any suggestions?

I had Undead, although I mainly collected them. I had a bigger Dark Eldar army, but thats 40k. I love that they really preserved that comdeic look of the Goblins, they had some hilarious units and models for the tabletop and its good to see Mythic is being true to the sources.
Poll is a bit off since Undead dont exist anymore. They split it into Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts. I played Undead...then suddenly half my army was illegal! Been trying to get my Tomb Kings army back in a playable state ever since...
Although in Mordheim, I play Skaven. BEST RACE EVER.

Yeah, I would have split them off into Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts but I didn't have any room left in the poll options. I also didn't include Ogre Kingdoms and Brettonia for the same reasons as well as grouping Hordes of Chaos and Beasts of Chaos into one.

I started with orcs and goblins cause a friend had piles upon piles of gobbo's to paint. That and I loved the little goblin doomdiver with the nuclear warhead attached to his helmet. Then I moved to chaos who really shined. Bought a dwarf army box set but only managed to paint a cannon, a regiment, and a few slayers since at the time I was painting like mad trying to build a already massive blood angel army. Ended up selling the dwarves to my friend but oh did I have plans for them. Sold the blood angels for $2000 and I keep chaos around for looks since some of my best models are there.
My first army was Undead. then when they made the "Undead" illegal (still 5th ed) I started playing VC. I still play Vampires, but now I have so much crap it's hard to narrow down what armies I have, and what armies I only have figures for. I'm working on a Tzeentch army for this years Chicago GT now....(ok, "working on" is a relative term. I have them put together, still have to start painting) I am going to liquidate some of my model count after the GT, but I will keep the Chaos (all types), the Undead (both types) and the Empire. I have tried and tried to put together Dark Elves (even got alot of them basecoated, but never got farther than that.) And Lizardmen. But I just can't do it. The lure of eternal death calls me back. I'm having to force myself to concentrate on doing Tzeentch because the Vampire in me keeps calling me to throw it down and pick up my skeletons!!!
Help me Tzeentch fend off the call of Nagash, for his will is strong!
I have played Skaven since 4th edition. I started playing warhammer just at the end of 3rd edition. I have a nice 6000 points of Skaven. I also have 2000 points Dark Elves, 2500 points Orcs And Gobbos and 3000 point Vampire Counts army.
I'm just a bit upset not to see Bretonians on that list, its somewhat insulting. I've been working really hard on them and not to see them to show my pride is... I'm babbling again aren't I? Anywho I also have Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts (an army using converted Skaven models), Lizardmen and I think I still have Empire around somewhere just not certain exactly but around . And I still play it's just hard to find time and people willing to play. This is kinda why I'm looking at playing WAR to use as a poor excuse to make up for all that.
I tried Dark Elf, Empire, Wood Elf & Skaven. dark Elf was my favourite purely because of the background behind them. And i really like the Cold One Riders
Alot of people knock GW for there policies, but they have created 2 very vibrant and full worlds with their Warhammer games. The books are brilliant.

a few years ago i started and orc & goblin, i had played 40k before and always liked orcs, so when i went fantasy it was either them or brettonia, went orc, i love how they're just inherently badass on every level and theres millions of the buggers

Ever since I was small I've played Chaos. I always fancied the wicked and twisted over pansy heroes.
