Playthrough with several devs in a party, showing UI is going to be released next week in the same dungeon. This is in game footage minus UI
This is great news. I loved the video, but with all the caveats surrounding it, I felt like why? If it's genuine gameplay footage then why strip out the UI? Just call it a Dungeon Trailer and then put out actual gameplay footage next week. In an age where skepticism is high, the absence of a UI and obvious cut scenes just fuel the flames of hate. Shit, the footage was better than most cinematics I've seen these days, lol. Don't make excuses or be apologetic. If actual gameplay footage is coming, just use it as a trailer.
Another Western game that seems to prioritize everything else above the female face. And just as a warning to everyone, EQ Next's Pre-Alpha looked better..
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
She is a mage, she is not some melee in lace with an over sized sword,it looks perfectly fine to me.It would make sense to not be wearing massive armor if you are never engaging and just using magic.
Where i usually get turned off is games where female characters have lingerie lace giant boobs dangling and they are melee'ing giant over sized weapons,it looks 100% out of place.
As long as combat does not get silly fast and turns into spam arpg's i am happy with what i see so far.
As to EQ Next looking better,i have to say no way in hell, not even in the same ball park, but hey it is your opinion , i am not taking that away from you,i just disagree lol.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I agree with Wizardry, EQ Next did not look better.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
The problem with heavily edited footage imo is that we never know if it's really gameplay footage or if a specific scene has been created for the purpose of this video, and if the scenario presented in it is currently "playable" (i.e. a player connecting to the game now could do what is shown in that video).
The thing that always makes me suspicious is when the UI isn't shown, and there are multiple "cinematic" camera angles. When falling down a pit, I don't have time to move the camera so it is pointing up watching me fall. I'll have probably splatted on the bottom before I figure out how to move the camera, so that kind of cinematic effect doesn't appeal to me. Spell graphics, I'm going to turn off at the very first opportunity, so that doesn't impress me. All I can deduce from that specific video is that gravity doesn't appear to work as expected.
The graphics, including the animations and character models, look nice, but looking nice and being nice are two dramatically different things to me. I am interested in seeing more. Like multiple characters and variations.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

lol wut?
There is a difference between art style and graphic.
From their site:we plan on starting a Kickstarter in the near future.
Ahhhhh ha ha!! I missed that. Good on them, though. If you're going to do a KS I'd LOVE someone to launch something that's approaching Beta (MVP). Launch something workable that's fun to play with base systems and integrate all these really, horribly complex, systems later. Get people playing and paying!
"The UI has been disabled to allow the video to be viewed from a "cinematic angle"
Here's some non-cinematic angle footage:
Though that's just a placeholder, I'm hoping to see more spells available at once. I was kind of concerned how the mechanics will be like. Here's what I found on the Ashes Forums:
"Q: Jumping on the combat mechanics bandwagon – are you planning a limited action set of abilities where players have to choose what’s active at any given time, or will players have many action bars with many active abilities as in games like WoW and SWTOR ?
A: We don’t want our players to be flooded with bars filled with abilities and skills that they rarely use, or become obsolete. So we will have a skill system that progresses with the player. Like many other aspect of our game, players will choose their skill sets from their chosen archetype and archetype combinations."

Sadly, 98% of games do not "play" like they show in their Videos.

@LoudWhisper They're still implementing other classes so, for now, we just have insight of class utility.
It looks like a console game because uses UE4. They are actualy building tab target + action skills
If by action you mean S-walk mage casting then yes!!!
Aside from that challenge, the graphics looked great! Will wait for UI/group gameplay to see how well it plays as an MMO.
