For fans of strategy titles, this ought to come as happy news: Starcraft Remastered is coming this summer. The announcement was made during South Korea's "I < 3 Starcraft" event by Blizzard's Mike Morhaime.

    All I want from Blizz is a wow progression server through Wrath. I don't care what Blizz does if they don't do that. So there. And you can promise all the ass-slaps you want!

    Tbh nowadays the only news announcement from Blizzard that might get me excited is if they announced Warcraft 4.
    It's nice that they are doing this, but... yeah...

    Best RTS of all time--in my humble opinion of course. But I too preferred a WC4 announcement.

    I would rather them work on Warcraft 4 (and maybe they are secretly), but ehhh. If I didn't already play through the original Starcraft campaign 100's of times I would probably be considering on picking up the remastered version.

    I absolutely hated Starcraft 2 (played many better RTS games in my life), so I never bothered trying Starcraft 1. This might just get me in to finally try it!

    I'm still a little skeptical though, those graphics comparisons didn't really look all that different. When I think of a remaster, I expect this generation's graphics, not the same that were 2 decades ago, with a little better textures.

    Looking good, if you didn't play the original yet it might be a good idea to wait for this. But if you did? Don't think it's worth buying. If it's $5 if you have the original or somehing, maybe, but not more.

    Would be more excited about Warcraft IV, like many here. Or maybe StarCraft: Ghost?

    Spent many an hour whittling away custom map after custom map in this title. I'm amazed at how much time I had in my early 20s.

    If anyone ever played Earthfall RPG or Hell Wars, those were mine.

    The Remastered version will be on the Blizzard launcher. The updated original will be compatible but not playable off the launcher.

    No... That would be a remake... A remaster is exactly what you described. The original just a bit improved. (usually this comes down to higher resolution or audio depth in other media and that + compatability for games.)

    Well, I won't be playing this but I hope it does well and leads to a Diablo 2 remsater.

    Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.

    some rusian peoples have already done the 4k compatibility... unless they bring a ladder system with season... and a good anti hack... they bring nothing news.

    played starcraft 1 for like 8 years, that my favorite games but im not that much interested in this remake with what they look like they curently offert. it look like more of a cash grab that anything at this point! comon, a ladder and a good anti hack system !! that a must !!

    Who was asking for this? I know there was huuuuge support for a HD Remaster of Diablo 2, as its gameplay and systems are completely different from Diablo 3.

    Starcraft, however, is not so different from Starcraft 2; and the original experience could have easily been recreated as a Starcraft 2 custom mod. Starcraft 2 still uses a 2 dimensional grid for constructions and pathing, it only looks 3D... it is hardly different.

    most of my friends were hoping on this one. maybe its bigger on the asian market?

    All I can say is meh.. I grow tired of these so called "remoastered "HD BS releases that milk off old games. I'll stick to my old copy and not pay a damn penny for this "remastered" version thanks! Hell it wouldn't be so bad if they actually used SC2's garphics but then again I can just download the player moade content and play the original StarCraft that way anyway.

    I love these old games and the reworking going into them but at the same time it's pretty tell tale when companies are re-releasing old games again despite having bought all the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Homeworld, Age of Mythology and many more remakes and remasters.

    As much as I enjoy re-playing the touch ups I'd like to see more new games. Like Warcraft 4, Neverwinter Nights 3, Starcraft 3...

    After what happened with SC2 I don't think Blizzard is eager to release another big budget RTS any time soon.

    The market for RTS games has dried up in the past couple years.
