LOL, trust me, THAT will come in handy. MOST careers you may look into have this as a pre-requisite.

Kuzzle I totally agree with some of the points you have made and I also dislike people wearing religious symbols.  But then again I, like you, live in a democratic country where everyone is given the freedom of choice.  This freedom however should not be limited to religious items, the only reason your principle doesn't ban religious items is because of fear of reprisal from families and religious communities, or perhaps he is a religious man himself and is biased?

Oh and don't worry too much about school, life doesn't really start until you leave school, but when you leave, it's up to you what you do with it.

    Good luck

    Well said.

I dropped out in high school at 16 y/o and at 17 joined the army. Now I have a well paid job and a great life and lots of trade qualifications that my dropping out of school so early had no effect on me getting.

    School is VERY over rated.

I am a Christian but very anti-church and anti-religion. However I have no issues with students coming to school wearing shirts with crosses, or half moons, or large depictions of Buddah. I do have a problem with teachers doing it.

Religion is kept out of public school for a damn good reason and there is a line that can be crossed. Anyone wearing something representing their religion that does anything other than just declare it should not be allowed.

As for school dress codes, just suck it up. My guess is maybe you want to wear those pre-ripped jeans or maybe some black lipstick or nail polish? Whatever it is, just be glad that you don't have to wear a strict uniform.

I suggest you leave it alone man. Your going to see when you get in the real world that you can't necessarly do anything about it. Now if a teacher does it, ehh that can be a problem. I don't think teachers can really do it though. A student is always open to their opinions in school. You let the be that way. You really have to take a deep thought about this and maybe do some research on this. I would have to say that many people that tried to do what you are about to do failed in some situations.

Have an understanding of what your dealing with. Search the net for some infomation. Ya feel me?

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with religious symbols. A guy wore a pentagram necklace to school in my highschool and I didn't really care about it. What did offend me though, was a car with a jesus-fish sticker on the bumper with 'Darwin' in the middle of it. Lol. I think it's pretty funny now, but at the time I had a long day and to have all that you believe in challenged day in and day out doesn't exactly brighten the mood.

Don't be so tense about things. I realize that there is a point where a dress code must be enforced, but I don't believe that it should be with religious symbols. I see offensive symbols attacking religion all the time. I read offensive cartoons on boards that teachers at my college pin up themselves, making fun of religious people (fundamentalists anyway). Sometimes you just have to sigh and shrug.

Kuzzle, if someone was intentionally trying to offend you, then you should be concerned. The guy wearing the cross, I would guess, was probably not trying to offend you or anyone else. If some girl's tank-top said that atheists are half-wits or Christians are mindless sheep, then I'd consider it personal. Just relax in the mean time.
