A new ARPG with survival elements called Rise of the King has officially launched on KickStarter seeking $160,000 to complete the project. The game is set in a medieval world and is considered a low-magic world. RotK will utilize survival mechanics to make a dynamic and immersive experience for players.

    awesome and backed! Not only is it survival and a story (seems like an open world) but I have a buddy who would love a game like this so pledged for two copies.

    160k to pay there small team to work full time to get this product out with a delivery date of aug-dec 2018, that business model doesnt look promising to me IMO

    I initially balked at that but considering what they have done so far I think they will pull it off.

    I've never been screwed on a Kickstarter yet so we'll see if I can keep that streak.

    Without knowing anything else.. Screenshot sure looks like a modded version of Skyrim.
    Happily playing Vanilla and BC WoW, again, since September 2016.

    Another Kickstarter mmo promising to deliver a hardcore low fantasy medieval setting? Yeah..I'm getting tired of backing these and then waiting 10 years for the game to finish development. I backed them with $15 bucks but this is probably my last Kickstarter pledge before I see one of these get delivered.

    Good, there are a number of different ways such mechanics can be utilized to great effect in RPGs. It doesn't have to be all about running around killing each other and burning down houses. Adding to the risks and challenges of a single player RPG can work very well, it makes for great immersion.

    Ah I see, the delivery date sounds a lot more realistic then. The gameplay engine they've already shown looks crisp and fun. Hope they get funded.

    I don't believe this is an mmo. It's a single player game. One of the reasons I backed it. Had it been an mmo I wouldn't have backed it unless there was more evidence that they could deliver multi-player. Showing one character for an mmo is not evidence enough to back such a project.

    I know the acronym means different things to different people - but can we just stick to ARPG for isometric games like Diablo 1,2,3 - Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Torchlight 1 and 2 etc...

    I saw new ARPG and got excited - only to find that it's another 3rd person adventure game :(

    i will never kick start a game again thanks to that deuche bags at shroud of the avatar,they lied to us and gave us old school crap combat that sucks!

    I don't back kickstarter games simply because I believe that the company should be the one taking the risks, not the players, as they are the ones that ultimately reap the rewards.
