The Chronicles of Elyria site has been updated with a trio of neat items in its latest blog post. First, several more concept art pieces showing weather effects on The Steppe have been published as well as the news that systems have been put in place to provide environmental effects.

    This looks great, but if the combat is elite they will have a winner.

    Unfortunately, "concept art" rarely represents the actual ingame implementation. Pretty pictures are nice to look at, but are just eye-candy.

    Yes and No.

    While it does not show what the in-game graphics will look like, it does show the kind of setting they are trying for. If you look at the concept art for GW2, it's very high-fantasy, brightly mystical and magical, where the concept art of ESO, is very gritty and dark. equally so the art for games like Wildstar are cartoonish, and games like Final Fantasy, have a very distinct Animie style concept art.

    This helps players get a feel for the game and it's art style. In that front, it is helpful for the people who are looking for a specific kind of aesthetic, if this looks like a game they will play, or pass on.

    But you are right, it does not give us a look into the actual game itself.
