Well, they finally caught up with me

Played the game through 2 stress tests, 10-day beta, and Head Start.  I decided in the middle of Head Start that the game I thought I was looking forward to wasn't as good as I had hoped.  So I never went back to EBGames to purchase the retail client.  Spent that 5 bucks from the preorder on something else.

I had been posting on the forums though .. nothing overly inflammatory, just kinda being a professional devil's advocate ... calling Turbine apologists on the carpet, adding an opinion here or there, or just joking around with folks.  If you can separate the players from the opinions, there are some good folks there.  Opinionated, to be sure ... but generally good folks.

Went to check the DDO forums this afternoon and was locked out.  I suspect the folks who decided that their free 30 days was all they wanted were as well.

Ah, well.  Such is life.  Interesting though .. I know a lot of folks that peruse a game's boards as part of their research.  To lock out non-paying folks completely seems a bit stringent.  But its their board ... they can certainly run it as they wish.  To anyone here who I may have been chatting with, it looks like our conversations are at an end.

You have to be a paying subscriber to post on the official forums. It sucks but many other games do the same thing. I'd be constantly flaming Turbine about the laggy engine if I had access to the official forums.

    To post .. absolutely.

To browse?  That's a different kettle of fish.

A lot of vendors let people browse their forums, they simply withold the ability to put in your 2 cents' worth.

But again, if Turbine wants to do a full lockout, its their right.  Its their forum.

EDIT: I retract what I said.  Once I went back and logged out, I could browse the forums.  My bad.

Unless you're trying to access a thread that's been deleted, you shouldn't have any problem browsing.

You sure you're not just getting the message that your login is invalid?  You don't have to login to browse.

Doh.  Beat me to it. heh
