Heroes of the Storm News - Overwatch's D.Va will be making her way to the Heroes of the Storm Nexus. Blizzard made the announcement during a live stream event earlier today in celebration of the game's Heroes 2.0 update that brings a number of big changes into the game including loot boxes, sprays and much more (similar to those earned in Overwatch).

oh man. This is just lazy. Can blizzard sink any lower? Plug game one into game two and repeat?

The game is almost 2 years old and you're just now realizing the whole point of the game was to plug in all their other games' heroes?

You serious? Basically what you are saying is that you don't like the idea that it's using heroes from all their other games.

Don't know about others, but for me that's like 30% of the reason I love the game so much. It's because we can play heroes from their other univeses.

As for D.Va... not really happy with the choice. Would've preferred some other hero.

Or you could have a somewhat business brain and actually realize that this is good for this game. I think you should just go off and keep thinking it s a bad idea, lol, clueless.

So when Marvel does Marvel Heroes or such, it's okay to use the same heroes because they aren't from a game? And wasn't there only recently a dicussion about one dev reusing heroes from a shut down game (forgot the name of either game) where it was praised as homage?

And getting some sort of TF2 ingame reward with every second game is also okay?

But when Blizzard does it it's bad?

I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

I don't like the 2.0 change where you have to buy everything with the new crystals and shards instead of just paying a real dollar amount. You can still buy heroes with gold but you now have to either purchase crystals with real money or use the shards you get from loot boxes to get everything else. You can also buy loot boxes for real money just like in Overwatch. Not sure I like this new monetization system they have now.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

This change probably has a lot to do with various regulations.

Nothing has changed aside from having 1 extra step in buying things with cash.

I don't like using some sort of fake currency that you have to buy with real money in set size bundles. It always ends up being something like an item costing 90 crystals but you have to buy them in units of 100 or more. You end up with left over fake currency that you can't buy anything with. Hate that.

I love her, can't wait to see what they will do with her skills!

And the first guy complaing that they use heroes from other blizzard games.. man.. that was like that from the start (even dota used the hero from Warcraft and Starcraft games, can't understand what's the problem)

Yup, people will find any reason to whine. This new system is better in literally EVERY regard. You get more free stuff, you get free stuff more often, you get more versatile free stuff.

You get rewarded simply for playing the game in much larger extent than before, and there's now even LESS incentive to spend real money. You get tons of stuff from the loot boxes, you can shred duplicates, multiples and stuff you don't want / like into shards with which you can buy EXACTLY the thing you want, or you can just get shards from the loot boxes outright as one of the rewards, so that you can get to stuff you want even easier and without spending a penny of real money.

HotS is among the most generous games of this type in the industry, but people have to complain. That's just tradition by this point, I guess.

On one side I absolutely agree. You are always left with leftover which you have nothing to do and at a later time you are often "baited" by that leftover to buy something else since you "already" have some anyway :P

Still on the other side of things this will allow Blizzard to reward their fanbase or at least I hope that's the idea behind it. For example when you watch Smite streams you will get crystals(it's crystals right? Not playing Smite, so not 100% sure) or chests every now and then. Hopefully Blizz will implement the same idea for their tournament streams.

Don't get me wrong, I like most of the other changes and new features...just not the move to an in game currency you have to buy with real money in set bundles.  Fortunately, it looks like you can get the things you want, eventually, just by playing.

well you do get 150 "fake dollorie doos" every 25 account levels so you can eventually get everything for free, something you couldn't in the old system.

well I mean you could farm WoW gold to get tokens for BlizzardBalance I guess. . .but who wants to play WoW nowadays?

It is lazy design as much people here defend it - - the game is far from alive. The player base is really low and get lower and lower every time they launch a new patch. I was playing HoTs (because the focus on objective maps) before trying MxM and compared to other mobas it is struggling.

You know what is not a lazy design? The double headed ogre and Ragnaros. They are fun as hell to play.

Blizzard should focus on heroes which abilities are engaging instead of trying to push HoTs as a competitive scene where it almost has no casual scene to begin with.

I commend you +100 for keeping an open mind, you have revived my faith in humanity.

This isn't an example of them being lazy, but let's not act like Blizz isn't guilty.  Orisa's character model is literally a copy/pasta of Mannoroth from WoW.  And, since they aren't trying to crossover the two games with the character model to build hype, there's no way to use the "genius marketing" excuse to hide the fact that Blizzard thought real hard about what they thought Orisa should look like, then just said "fuck it, recycle!"
