We announced that today’s episode, Flashpoint, is the second-to-last episode of the season. Yes, that means what you think it means: there’s one more episode after this, and then straight to the expansion pack.
A lot of you have been wondering about the upcoming release cadence, given that last time around we took a long break from Living World releases to get Heart of Thorns out the door and then to support that expansion after release.
The good news is that this time around we have two separate fully-staffed teams that are both hitting on all cylinders. So our rough plan is to slot the expansion pack into the release cadence as if it were an episode: episode 5, then episode 6, then the expansion pack, then episode 1. But we’ll make some allowance for the fact that shipping an expansion pack is a big deal logistically and will probably take longer than the 2~3 months we normally allocate between episodes.

Guild Wars 2 News - The Guild Wars 2 Reddit has an intriguing new post packed with nearly fifty images that may indicate a new expansion is on the way. The first several show what appears to be new Elite Professions with 18-skills each: Deadeye, Firebrand (Guardian), Spellbreaker, Holosmith, Mirage (Mesmer), Soulbeast (Ranger), Scourge (Necromancer), and Renegade (Revenant).

where are our lore for the existing elite specs?
anyway, this leak feels it's intended...

Yup, unless the name gets changed before release. I mean, the expac haven't even been announced yet...
Yep, pretty much.
@SBFord You might wanna update new elite specs description in your OP.

I have to agree with you here. Waypoints usage already wasted beautiful landscape GW2 has.

are you serious?!
I am playing since the betas, but you cannot expect these bigger updates for free (and yes, i understand your point of view especially as HoT brought new mechanics mostly, rather than content - altho the replayability of the new maps are awesome). But I do not expect Vanilla kind of content for free.
Considering that all the living story we've got is free (if you logged on during their 2-3 months period), I do not expect these for free at all, especially as they follow the usual Guild Wars 1 forumla.
Considering that the HoT "Living Story" updates are killing the game I would say they should dump the Living Story entirely and just go with annual expansions.
Hope the new Elite specs are MUCH better than the first ones.
I don't see them doing that at all... how did you get that from the OP?
GW and GW2 were always buy to play games... you don't pay a monthly sub you pay for the expansions.. those that don't buy them can still play the regular games and the monthly content or whatever. People that complain that they are locked to expansions ...aren't. You still get everything, including new content without them... but if you want the expansion areas and the new classes or whatever, you have to buy them... this was ALWAYS the case since gw1.
I also don't know what the issue is with the first elite specs.. almost all of them are way more powerful than *most* of the original classes.
In a few years, most people won't care about what they said in the past about specs. Most players will only care about balance between each new spec they add into the game.
"Mandatory" isn't exactly true. Some classes have very good specs still for base class without elite specs. Notably the Engineer, Guardian, Warrior and Ranger.
It's true that most elite specs are the better ones.. well, more correctly all elite specs are viable options whereas base class specs being viable in PvP are fewer.. but not outright terrible.
Hopefully the new specializations balance out the classes a bit more, but, I fear they are just going to make things tougher to balance altogether.
There certainly needs to be more viable choices in class build. Base class needs to be buffed and have 1 or 2 of the original trees be designated as an elite spec or something.

HAHA, I remember how heated fans would get if you brought that up pre-release.
