Blue Screen of Death

I just recently built this computer about a month ago.

AMD Opteron 165 1.8gz Dual Core, X1900XT 512mb vcard, 2gigs RAM, A8N-E motherboard

Today when I started up my computer at my sisters house to show my brother in law Red Orchestra Ostfront (which I just installed last night) I got the Windows Stop error screen or Blue screen of death. It happened as I just tried to load the game off steam. After that it started randomly crashing. I tried system restore a few times all the way back to the date when I first built it but It doesn't seem to be working. I've gotten the maybe twice while playing Oblivion but now It happens all the time. I uninstalled Red Orchestra but it still crashes so I'm thinking it may not be the game. I'm afraid I'll have to reformat and reinstall windows and I'm hoping someone here will have a few suggestions for I go through with it.

On the blue screen its says:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0X000000C1 COX000000ED,0X00000002) 0X00000001, 0X97A08A50)

HTTP.SYS- ADDRESS 97A09A50 Base at 979f7000, Datastamp, 41107569

One time it was HTTP.SYS- ADDRESS 97b17a50 Base at 97bo6000,Datastamp 41107569

The first time it happened it say The problem seems to be cased by the VADATANT.SYS PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I searched for the vadatant.sys file and it said it was for my anti virus software Zone labs, so I uninstalled that program but I started getting the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stuff instead. I think I've only crashed while on the internet but I'm in safe mode right now.

Also I'm not sure if this is related but it takes windows like 4 or 5 minutes to shutdown. This has been happening for a couple weeks. It will just stay at the Windows is shutting down screen for 4 or 5 minutes and then it starts up normally afterwords.

It weird because it was totally fine and then I moved it to my sisters house and started it up and started the game and then the crashing began. I don't normally shutdown my computer though so maybe I just need to restart it for it to start crashing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check and make sure everything is seated/fitted properly. Moving can sometimes shift something inside, ever so slightly that stuff like this can happen. If that fails, a full reinstall of windows seems to be in order. If the problem continues to happen, then at least you know its a hardware problem of some kind.

Everything seems to be in place. I got Red Orchestra working and I was playing that for about an hour until it violently crashed to the blue screen and now I'm in safe mode again. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get the Windows disc from a friend.

I just looked at the Event viewer under System and the source of Errors are Service Control Manager, and DCOM.

    For source Service Control Manager:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

    AmdK8

    AsIO

    Avg7Core

    Avg7RsW

    Avg7RsXP

    Fips

    Also

The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error:

The system cannot find the file specified

    For the DCOM:
The description for Event ID ( 10016 ) in Source ( DCOM ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: machine-default, Local, Activation, {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1}, NT AUTHORITY, LOCAL SERVICE, S-1-5-19.

Another thing I have had a problem with is closing certain programs. With windows media player if I try and X out of it the music still plays and I have to open the Task manager to close it. I'm not sure if this is related.

With all of those problems i say just burn eveything you need to dvd's or an external hard drive and reformat, there is something seriously wrong with windows in your case. I cant think of anything else it could be.

EDIT: after your edit now im almost posotive you have to reformat windows. The reason your getting the blue screen of death is becouse amdk8 failed to launch (according to what you posted, and im pretty sure thats the problem)

I had this happen on my laptop, I had to reinstall something in the device manager. I think, but I'm not sure, it was for the integrated sound. I was using the latest drivers, which turned out to be a mistake. I had to use the default drivers in Windows to get it to work.
