EVERYONE can solo - Even in group based MMOs (why multi-accounting is bad)

First, PvP is a bit iffy depending on the game. Impossible in planetside 2 for example or any non-RPG MMO, but possible in EVE (less effective though) and fully possible in games like WoW and GW2.

Sign up with X amount of accounts. This is IN THE RULES OF THE MMO...as long as you don't cheat or use programs.

Now this needs two monitors or three monitors optimal (NOT more than one NPC). So for example, in GW2 I often have 8 accounts running at once, and I always make sure they are doing stuff. I'm not using any programs, cheats or anything else...I do however have a specialized keyboard that has built-in macros, but special keyboards are very often used in MMOs.

Now my 8 accounts can go around killing everything, and doing everything possible solo. There is no content I can't take with my 8 accounts.

In EVE, when I played it last year, I had 4 accounts (all paid for), so not as many but it costs a sub to maintain. I could go to nullsec and just slaughter any small group I came across...BUT...anyone equal or more to my number had a HUGE advantage.

So those saying you can't solo in certain MMOs are wrong. You can solo in EVERY MMORPG (if you are okay with it being a bit less effective in certain situations), but you need to put in a bit of effort to be able to do it and toss in some cash.

Is it better than grouping? Depends. In EVE, definitely not. In GW2 and WoW, I actually did/do BETTER than if I had to rely on a group. Because a lot of people (in WoW) suck at group play, so I only had to rely on myself and did much better than any group I ever was in WoW.

And this is actually why games should ban multi-accounts. It makes MMOs far too easy, but doing the above is fully in the rules and gives me a HUGE advantage in most MMOs than any other player in a small group. And today I could have 9 EVE accounts on my income, and that is a HUGE advantage with anyone that is in space by themselves or have too few number.

How is this not against the rules? And why do they allow it? I'm guessing cause they are getting so much money from people like me, but is it fair to people who only play one account at a time?

There is only so far you can go to prevent these types of things. People can rig some pretty complex setups to make it look like their 10 miners are in 10 different locations on 10 different computers.

The big thing I hate with these is the amount of meta it brings into a game in that being successful starts to become too much about how many clients your computer/connection can run at once and how efficient you are at handling your third party multiboxing software.

What I think could be a really cool alternate system is the idea as having all your alts accessible to you as hireling NPCs while you play. Now if you've got a system with a bit of manual aim and actual skill involved you can shut down multiboxers in-combat, so I would make the functionality of hirelings in combat pretty limited but you could make them do thoughtless repetitive tasks en-masse fairly easily.

That's essentially how most of these games run already. It's just removing the meta and making it accessible to everyone.

Wait, on March 4th you stated in one of your threads GW2 felt too non social, too casual, and you didn't want to support NCSoft with your money.

Yet now you claim to multibox 8 accounts at a time?

The problem is sitting behind the "specialized" keyboard.

"GW2 was close to what I liked, but I dunno, everywhere I went was really quiet. I dunno, it didn't feel very social. And it felt kinda too arcade-like for me. I got to where I needed to buy the expansion and quit, too boring and felt way too easy. I guess expansion areas are harder, but while I want a casual focused MMO, it was even too casual for me and that is saying A LOT. I also don't like NCsoft at all, so I didn't want to support them with money. "

my opinion on GW2 actually changed once I boosted my character to 80 and stuck with one character.

I however still have the rest of the accounts as a "free" player without expansion and haven't bought them as that is too much money to spend on a single game with all my characters. Expansion is a lot cheaper though, not the same 50 dollars I paid at the time. However, in the past, I did multi-box (as I said) and I had a huge advantage over most. Didn't even need to wait for groups or anything to do the instances and what not.

Companies are businesses first and maybe care-givers some where way down the line. It doesn't matter if it seems fair or not mainly because they have no real way of knowing if those accounts belong to a single individual or potentially people in the same house hold/borrowing accounts from friends, which isn't against most game's rules. At most, some games have a policy against accounts being ran from the same system but that's it. As long as people are spending, fairness has nothing to do with it. That applies to everything in the world tbh. There are some rules in place for certain things, but most dont get revised so loopholes are found. Until there's a huge uproar, things wont change and multi-boxing is really far down on the list of problems with mmos for most people.

As for being able to do literally everything with X amount of accounts, this honestly depends on the game and its content. If you do something like Tera's content with 8 accounts, I'd be pretty impressed. But honestly, its like saying someone who has higher reflexes than someone else has an unfair advantage. If you can do what you're able to do within the confines of the game's rules, its fair game. Some people may not have the set up etc to do it, so that's just how it is. Companies honestly can't cater to everyone and honestly multi-boxing has been around since online gaming. I was doing it for most of the close 10 years that I played of FFXI mainly cause I could, its just how it was.

Yes, multi-boxing is not too feasible in action combat mmorpgs.  I'm almost 40, and I can play a game like Cryptic's Neverwinter very well.  The only reason I would want to go back to tab-targeting is if a game that used it was one heckuva lot more like a pencil-and-paper role-playing game.  Except with open world pvp/pve and without vertical level progression.  And without the vertical gear progression found in the vast majority, if not every, mmorpg out there to date.

Developers don't focus on any of the things you mentioned.  They all look at behavior and  you cannot program a good enough algorithm to fake human behavior.  Developers know exactly what players are doing, but choose to ignore it.
