Shroud of the Avatar News - If you've been wanting to check out the latest updates to Shroud of the Avatar, today is your chance. Portalarium is running a free trial event from May 10-31 that does contain a number of restrictions, though "you can still explore hundreds of scenes, talk with thousands of players, adventure through the opening quests, and gain experience". All progress will be saved for those who choose to back the game.

    i just spent the last couple hours playing for the first time in quite a while. the first area you jump in to isnt bad, but as soon as you finish that the hand-holding is completely gone.

    i dunno, it's enjoyable, but i doubt i can play it long term

    When your game is not even release and you have free trials like that... Dude. Nobody is playing the game and even if it's free, nobody will. Why?

    Because the game sucks.

    Your logic belongs in a trashcan .. even if the game turns out to be horrible i will give it a chance since i appreciate and respect a gaming company who offers a free trial of it's product before it's release and not charge the consumer.


    From my very limited knowledge the game involves no handhold's and reading , can understand why u hate it.

    I wouldn't be so willing to offer your respect. All those "cool" features that Portalarium is always promoting? Well it look like you can do none of those:

    Cannot give items to other players via Trade
    Cannot purchase nor sell items via Player Vendors nor Public Vendors
    No ownership of property nor use of lot signs
    Cannot interact with public chests
    Cannot move/interact with items on a plot even if they are given permissions
    Cannot flag as Open PVP
    Cannot gain nor do they create any ransom items when they kill or are killed in PVP (in Open PVP zones)
    Character data may be deleted after Free Trial period is over if character is not upgraded to a paid account
    Items purchased in the Add On Store cannot be accessed after the Free Trial Period is over unless you purchase Game Access
    Cannot play in Offline Mode
    Can only start on the Path of Love

    Those are going to cost you. Better start applying for an equity line of credit now.

    This game is a bunch of amateur 3D art assets dumped into the default Unity engine. What little there is to the interaction with objects is clunky and barely functional, while the rest of the content is at the earliest stages of development.

    A free trial now imo would just be a 'spoiling' experience of the game, i am interested in the game, but i am waiting for it to be finished before i play it, i am hoping the game will eventually be a good one, but at the moment i don't think its really there yet and i don't want to spoil the experience of playing the game for myself by jumping in before its truly ready to be played. :o

    All those people need to google to find out how long a minute is then open the calculator app to figure out how long it is then forgot why they were doing it so not going to have the effect you want.

    I played the game last night for 3 hours and I just couldn't get into it. The classic rpg aesthetic they are going for is cool but I didn't like the presentation, sound design or UI. I think the character models look like something from 2003 (think NWN 1)  and even wow ditched the 03 look. Even on ultra settings the models just look more "Shiny" but still from 03. The game as a RPG has tons of potential and I really enjoyed the way you sort of NEED to explore to find stuff, and I liked how you navigate conversations but then the inventory screen is congested.  Also I may have missed something but I couldn't see my equipped weapon on my character. I know this seems like a minor detail but for me its MAJOR. I want to see the progress my character is making. 

    All that said and considering its an EA game.. I'm willing to give it another shot when its fully developed later down the road. Didn't this game raise a few million or so?  Uninstalled for now..
