I7's new classes?

AkunaiAkunai Member Posts: 138

In a recent article previewing the new I7 patch, Jon Wood wrote.

There are lots of other things that stand out about Issue 7. Supergroups will be given new base features that will allow a level of customization and interactivity that we haven't seen from the game as of yet. New classes will become available, new costumes are coming, and they are also introducing something called "patron powers" that will allow players to choose a specific major villain and gain some of their unique powers. Also, as a treat for players who play both CoH and CoV, costumes will be fully interchangeable between the games as hero costumes and elements will appear on villains and vice-versa.

It says here that new classes will become available, though I haven't seen or heard anything about that.  Anyone able to confirm or deny new classes in I7?

I think they're supposed to announce soon the 'epic' unlockable AT for the villains' side, although they didn't release Keldians until Issue 3... so the Epic may wait until Issue 8

My guess would be that he wasn't refering to new 'classes', but was mistyping a refrence to the several new powersets that are going into the game with I7.  You know, electric melee and armour for brutes, thugs for masterminds and bringing over the dark sets for stalkers.

Also, the devs are pretty adamant on their stance that there's no massive nerfs going into play with I7.  <shrug>

Jdun, can you elaborate on the new nerfs?

I am not listening as closely as I used to, mostly because my interest for CoH/CoV is at an all time low, *shrug*, soon it will reach my interest for EQ!    Well, I don't think it can get that low...well...maybe...I dunno.

I am still angry at I3.  So I4, I5, I6, ED, HOs and IoPs are only aggravating any doubt I might have.

I was thinking about trying it again at I7...but honestly, I am hooked on Oblivion and I see no reason to start playing CoV/CoH while I enjoy Oblivion...in fact, I also see no reason to try Auto-Assault yet, the fact it end poorly just made it to be delayed in the list of things to try.  Heroes of Might and Magic V is coming soon and I am still not really done with all the game variations on Civ4, lot of dedicated players who developp very nice scenarios for it...and I am pretty sure there will be other games to surprise me and interest me in the near future, so I try to keep a watch on 2K products.

Anyway, if you can elaborate about the nerfs, it was looking nerf free to me on a first glance, maybe they are still balancing the game for PvP reasons, which is extremely funny considering that beside Stateman, nearly nobody enjoy PvP in this setting.    A dev making a game for himself, would make sense if he would make compromise to get the game interesting to the majority of players, but he seems to be nearly as "Brad" as McQuaid.

The fact they lost 'Zeb' is certainly not helping them, although I don't know him and he may be a dork, I judge from his products, and I have a lot of fun in Zeb past products...solo or around a tabletop, but lot of fun nonetheless.
