For years I heard and used this term while yolo'ing in mmo's, yet it wasn't till years later I found out it was from this video/event. 10/10 would wipe pve'ers again

I remember this from when the video first came out. Funny but the entire thing was staged.

Too bad he didn't wipe all the World of Warcrap servers at Blizzard too.

Well, lots of things that were once somewhat bearable become trash over time.  The garbage dumps are full of them.  Even empty cartons of Vanilla ice cream.

But I don't think WoW was ever good.  It's always been a stupid cartoon.
  • ForgrimmForgrimm Member EpicPosts: 3,069

Still funny 12 years later.  And it's always nice to be reminded that at one point in time the game was amazingly well-tuned at all levels of play.

The rookery wasn't that difficult. They just intentionally made every possible mistake in the video for the sake of comedy. Intimidating shout scattered the whelps which spawned more, they purposely ran over every possible egg to spawn more, casting divine intervention at the beginning for no reason when it was only intended for use immediately before a wipe, because that spell killed the paladin who cast it and froze the person who it was cast on.

What's more interesting to contemplate is WHY such moments can NEVER be repeated in WoW in its current state...

Goes to show how greedy and clueless people are.  Thinking that they can remake a stupid cartoon and be just as successful as the original stupid cartoon that actually copied another stupid cartoon called Everkill.

The developers of those legendary suck games misinterpreted the RPG acronym as Repeat-Pay Grind.  And the rest is history.  Everkill 2 is better than World of Warcrap, but it's still a piece of warmed-over garbage.

Dude, we get it. You don't like WoW...or apparently even MMOs. You've posted what? 4 times in this thread? I think we've got your point....though you ARE helping put WoW in the trending games and providing a number of hits. So here's a backwards THANKS from the staff! ^_^

It is all so cut and dry now. In and out like a Chinese hooker.

    No offense to the Chinese.

    Or hookers.

MMOs really don't foster community anymore, they are designed from the ground up to be single player RPGs these days, so events like this are fall less likely to happen.

haha, i used to pull tons of monsters in lineage2 and use the play dead skill making the monsters aggro switch towards someone in my farming zone, thus killing him.
reminds of times we really didn't know how to fight properly in dungeons and would die for pulling too many mobs.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Neverwinter is way better than WoW.  If you've never played levels 1-60 in that game, you have no idea how fun an action combat mmorpg can be.  I have an lvl 70 11.9k Item Level guardian fighter there.  A pretty decent trickster rogue too.  Problem is, it has EQ/WoW-style endgame grind, and I finally got completely tired of it after playing on-and-off for over 2 1/2 years.

That video got me into playing WoW. Leroy Jenkins for life!

I remember this video and I remember how I peed my pants laughing, cause it was just so on the mark in that raid (back when it was a raid).

Despite this video being staged, the truth was this was pretty much exactly what kept happening in there no matter how much we tried to explain people the tacs outside the room.
I however loved silly people back then, before Leroys became the norm, something we all have to endure in all instances these days, because everything is now an encouraged rushfest regardless of difficulty lvl in all things.
And there is not much sillyness in the people doing it now, its not so cute now, cause todays Leroys gets you kicked if you dont keep up with the chaos during fast and disorganized pulls.

Anyway, Vanillas versions of Leroys is just one of those things that is part of the past now, fun to remember, but now colored by the cold current reality.

Its sad it has to be that way, I am sad (in moderation, its just a game after all) that every time I remember something nice from the past in WoW, its followed up by sadness. So I have stopped caring for flash backs and dont share the stories from back then anymore either.

As a small positive note though, which Im sure will be destroyed asap as anybody at Blizzard takes notice that anybody is actually expressing some fondness of an element in their current game, is that the Leroy moments are often still experienced in random bgs.

I love how we stand there at the starting gates and some guys eagerly hand out tacs to people, that is followed up by the gates opening and everybody in the raid rushing off in all directions.

This is still fun to me, I enjoy these moments greatly, even though Im well aware it is probably only a matter of time before Blizz change things again again again and ruins it all.

But the real Leroy moments ergo still exist in bgs and that is the only reason I log in still.

I feel bad for this guy. Thinking neverwinter is decent? Must have a very skewed sense of what's a good MMO

Old happy moments with this video ;) - but this kind of 'necro' article is - for me - bad kind of advertising and sponsored content. Leaves bad taste on my e-tongue.

It's why I usually just let his opinionated off the wall verbal diarrhea ride with at most, a LOL now and then. Every little hit helps :)

And yeah, the Leroy bit never gets old.

There's been a lot of ridiculous claims of "advertising" and "sponsored content" on these forums recently, but this one takes the cake.

GW2 sucks.  You can't play action combat unless you buy the expansion.  Otherwise it's boring.  I quit at level 12.  But I'm not gonna pay Bethesda a dime to pay their hamster wheel rodent chasing cheese WoW clone themepark.
