We are in a video game era where more games are allowing character creation. KOF are releasing an MMO, even Sonic the Hedgehog Forces will allow character creation. So that begs the question, save SC and DBZ, what is the deal with other fighting games not catching on? I think we all can speculate a few reasons...
SC was my favorite because they had a character creator. Sure it was unbalanced, there are certain moves which are game breaking and repetitive. Here is the thing that fighting games are discovering which mmo fans have known for years. Players find a mechanic, then continue to exploit it. MMOs cannot be balanced, I feel he same way about fighting games.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/02/08/opinion-despite-low-sales-street-fighter-5-isnt-going-anywhereI don't think created characters in a fighting game will be a big deal, tournaments do not have to allow them. The issue is making an aspect of a game that is not the center piece of it. Since created characters are not used in tournament play, why waste resources on this feature? Well, because casual and mmo players play fighting games to?
What are your thoughts on created characters and fighting games? Being a MMO junkie, I really like it. SC is my favorite behind Bloody Roar. Bloody Roar would make for an awesome character creator system as-well.

I'm still playing USF4. I don't want to move onto SF5 yet because "if it's not broke, don't fix it".
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.
