Black Desert Online is (as of time of this thread) "mostly positive" on steam reviews

First, its very rare for a game to be overwhelmingly positive in steam reviews, and even harder for an MMO to get that.

Everyone knows the real success isn't in the number of people playing, but how many people are reviewing in a positive way. Sure, there is a good percentage that don't like BDO on Steam for various reasons. That is true for any MMO. MMOs especially are either hate or love them, so they'll never be overwhelmingly positive even if to someone its the best MMO in the world to them.

However, this is a very good sign for BDO that the reviews are mostly positive

Compared to EVE where its mostly positive, but recent reviews its "mixed". Same with Ryzom (which is a freemium MMO and free on Steam), which Ryzom was very badly reviewed when launched on Steam and is in even worse shape than before the Steam release. Of course both of these have been out a lot longer on Steam than BDO has been.

What is a fact however, is as of now, like EVE used to be (but no longer), new Steam launch and reviews are mostly positive feedback. Maybe it will change as people play the game, maybe an update will come out and it will receive major backlash, that could happen to any MMO. And it isn't because its just a new MMO on steam, plenty of new MMOs got on steam and were reviewed very poorly (like Ryzom, which didn't even cost money).

This is a very good sign for BDO, of course maybe like EVE, people will hate it as time goes on. But as of now, the large majority of reviews are positive and most people are really enjoying the game and the Steam release. Even if numbers go down, if reviews remain good, that is where the true test comes in.

Doesn't really matter how many "New" people there are.  This same exact thing happened a few months back when they released the returning and new player channels that let people who haven't played the game in the last 30 days.  The channels were constantly full and we (the current black desert players) were excited to have some new blood join us hopefully after those 30 days.

Turns out, a large percent of those people just end up quitting before that period of time because they come to a realization just how much they have to grind to catch up.  So many streamers that I watch were all "Coming back to the game" but then they quit after a week or two.  Its just another steam fad where people play for a month or two, then quit and the game will still never benefit from that.

Being in a top guild that holds territories weekly, there's nothing that new players add to the game because they simply can't catch up and contend with the top 1%, therefore, the experience for those that stuck around for a long period of time gets stale because no amount of new players will ever impact their game.

This has nothing to do with how many new people there are. This is how many positive reviews there are on Steam, compared to the negative reviews (again, as of time of this thread).

It would help if some curators would recommend it.

Due Steam shop script acting kinda crazy these days people are starting to follow curators for new games instead of relying on it.
yeah, it doesn't take long for a game to really skyrocket once a popular curator recommends it. I never follow them myself, but enough do that it sure make a huge increase in popularity.

    It's just buyers bias.
