If you’ve been following ESO for a while, you’ll know that PVP is a core component of the game, but until now it’s been entirely contained within the open-world region of Cyrodiil. That changes with today’s official launch of ESO’s first chapter – Morrowind. One of the big new features of the game is 4v4v4 Battlegrounds.

Irmagerd, not this again "...believe it or not, are actually tied to the lore of The Elder Scrolls: Arena, one of the series earliest games."

First of all Arena was not "one of the series earliest games" it WAS the first game.

But more importantly the battleground part of Arena lived only in the minds of developers at the earliest stages and was totally dropped upon release. From Wikipedia (which is 100% correct this time):

"Initially, Arena was not to be an RPG at all. The player, and a team of his fighters, would travel about a world fighting other teams in their arenas until the player became "grand champion" in the world's capital, the Imperial City.[5] Along the way, side quests of a more role-playing nature could be completed. As the process of development progressed, however, the tournaments became less important and the side quests more.[4] RPG elements were added to the game, as the game expanded to include the cities outside the arenas, and dungeons beyond the cities.[5] Eventually it was decided to drop the idea of tournaments altogether, and focus on quests and dungeons,[4] making the game a "full-blown RPG".[5]"

Note the "drop the idea of tournaments altogether" part.

Don't forget to mention the bg system is riddled with bugs that have been present throughout the 2 month Beta and the 15 day EA period that just ended. Oh, and the patch that fixed 3 bugs in the bg que system yesterday created an all new one that makes que'ing in groups nearly impossible, 1/20 attempts taking 1-2 hours is the average claim.

I had a new one yesterday when we formed a 4-man to do a random. We queued and all looked fine until we went in the instance and 3 of us kept getting a "wrong instance" message and got kicked out of the dungeon and right back in and then got the same message. It was an endless loop and we had to force quit the game to end it.

We finally managed by having just one person go in and then porting to that person.

Many, many months ago I made a sarcastic post in their forums that the ZOS group finder team is where they put people who can't quite cut in the mail room. I've sen nothing to change my mind. This has been going on for more than 3 years now.

Do you need to have a full group before you can do it or does it place you with 3 other random players?

It's supposed to work either way but premades are seeing a lot more issues getting into the BG properly than random single players.

Great video, Bill! Honestly, this is all I've wanted in ESO, and it looks amazing. Now if only I can force myself to play ...
