I have always wanted to play these games but I think I simply am unable to learn to play them well. I tried Hex : Shards of Fate and after watching a couple of videos got thoroughly overwhelmed with the deck gathering and promptly gave up. I should have made more of an effort or perhaps I picked a complicated game. Also the Duelyst looked good but I think I am hopeless.

TCG / CCG would be a nice pass time if they weren't all P2W and this one is no different. Tried doing daily quest and I wasted enough time being beat by founder and card swiping whales. I will never understand the ideology of a gaming genre that's entertainment value is based purely on the size of your wallet.

Because its not and there are modes where you play with random cards, no matter how long a person has played they have no advantage in cards over you.

    GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!

I actually enjoy the solo campaigns fir this more than i do the PVP or head to head battles, but there are a lot of other play options then just head to head.

Wish the game worked and the devs fixed the errors. Many are unable to play legends atm as they get Error download Files -0, those people are been ignored.

solid game. for those who think hearthstone maybe a little too cartoony and not enough fantasy in it- this is the best one out there! One thing this game has is amazing card campaigns!

Agree, always the way they've been since my children played them back then and still their greatest flaw.

But fans of the genre have long accepted this so no harm, no foul.

Fortunately my children outgrew them. ;)

Obviously if you spend money you will get cards faster but you can compete in this game without spending cash. Elder Scrolls Legends has a good f2p model and they are pretty generous with currency rewards to buy packs.

Oh look, someone who actually enjoys P2W mechanics in their games. You do realize P2W mechanics are simply a legalized form of cheating right? Anyways, it's a legitimate complaint and if that bothers you, I'm sorry.

P2W mechanics are a legalized form a cheating? LOL Buying packs of cards in a card game is not cheating.

I'm F2P on Hearthstone, Shadowverse and Elder Scrolls: Legends and doing just fine.
Yeah I am not on the top of the leaderboards, but I don't care about that. Just stick to ranked battles, so you are matched against players with the same deckpower (most of the time). Casual mode is a coin flip, many high ranked players take out their new decks out there to test them, before going into ranked with them.
Or you can do arena, then everyone is equal, sort of. Of course experience on how to use cards and what cards to pick in draft matters a lot.
Another tip, don't try to be a completionist and collect all the cards. Focus on just a few decks and dust/soul trap/liquify other cards so you can craft the cards you need for your deck. Also, animated cards are a very good way to get dust/soul gems to craft new cards with as the animated cards are worth a lot more and they are not extra powerful compared to the non animated version.

So, unless you want to be full blown competitive for top 100 or want a full animated deck, there is no need to spend any money on the game.
