hi, I was recently thinking about picking up this game due to, wow, eve etc not really getting a grip on me and was wondering if pickup groups are really hard to find as I wont have any friends to play the game with. Any information about the games,(pros cons) would be great.. Thanks

I've heard that picking up groups is quite hard, but when you find a good group you can stick with.

    Tons of fun.

I'll be playing in about 3 days or so.

Maybe I'll give you a PM, we can group together for the first couple of levels.

I'm planning on getting the game tommrow and will probably be rolling a WHM as I usually tend to play the priest/cleric in mmorpgs.

ya.... pickup groups could take a while sometimes (longest i waited was 2 hours before just starting a group of my own)

the reason why it takes a while to form a PUG is because most people want to build an efficient team, which sometimes requires that one job that no one has (healers such as white mages or red mages are probably the most sought for)

so yes, pickup groups can be a pain to form sometimes, but on the other end, when you form or join a good team with great people the play experience is just awsome. No other MMORPG has captured that feeling of euphoria as FFXI does when a group explores a deep cave or run down castle and works as a team to make it through.

    WHM, huh?

Downside: WHM's are especially bad at soloing, due to their lack of offense.

Upside: Every party needs a healer, not enough people want to play them. You're going to have a relatively easy time finding pick up parties.

Edit: Well, not *every* party needs a healer; at higher levels there are specialized party types that don't. But every ordinary party does.

just bought the game and am patching the game client right now. I'll be messing around a little today and plan to post my server/charname so anyone who wishes to group up with me or chat in game can.
