SMITE has gone MMO(ish)! In their newest Adventure, Trials of King Hercules, three players will co-op their way through NPC bosses because good ol' Herc told you to. It's up to TheHiveLeader to now make his way through these trials and hopefully live in the process.
What do you think?

.........................why would someone make a gear grind progression game a limited time event? That makes no sense :O
Have you ever been scared back to a game because of this? Or are you immune but others are scared into it?

LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
why the heck shouldn't they do this? Player who are playing get to get in on a one time event. So those who are active players get can get something if they want to try for it. As to people who aren't playing it. Who cares about them?
If you were interested enough in the game, wouldn't you be playing it? Or are there other priorities over this game? Is this simple fear of missing out in which case, stop doing that. Or do you feel entitled to it all?

Do they like, give out a special skin to those who defeat the final boss or something as a reward for beating it then? Though like Hive Leader I was interested because of the MMORPG progression, not because of skins, so if that's indeed the case, it's not for me then, I suppose.
That's not vertical gear progression, though. The gear you get from this mode doesn't transfer to other modes, right? (that'd be hilariously unbalanced if it did, though). So you grind out this mode for gear that goes away, basically. (again, unless you get a skin or something else that can be used in other modes as a reward, but in that case that's just more of the same and not what I or Hive Leader would be looking for).
I do expect persistent progression RPG gameplay from this new sub game Hercules Trials they have for it because that IS my cup of tea. Which is why I'm interested in that.
However, the latter is apparently just a limited time existence. Hence "I would have been interested in this game, but now I'm not, because it isn't even going to exist anymore."
Why do people think I'm supposed to be interested in the rest of the game? If I was interested in the rest of the game, I would, as you all keep saying, "Be playing it." Instead, I'm interested in THIS Hercules Trials game, which is practically a completely different thing. But this Hercules Trials game is only going to be a limited existance. So there goes that interest.
This really shouldn't be that hard to understand. Sheesh. You all keep getting so defensive and white knighting about me attacking your Smite base game apparently when all I'm saying is I'm interested in this OTHER game mode, because it appeals to my interests, but it's limited time only so there it goes. Stop letting all your bias make you think I'm saying something that I'm not.
For crying out loud, I'm basically just repeating what the Hive Leader said about how he wished there was an actual game like Hercules Trials and suddenly you all think I'm blasting the MOBA genre, apparently. Are you that insecure about the MOBA genre that you feel you need to leap to defend it just because someone said they wished the RPG game mode in Smite was more permanent?
I was interested in the PVE part too and would probably play this game finally after years of it sitting in my Steam library if that mode was permanent.
Not sure why they don't make this a regular game mode and add onto it over time.
Wishing something became an MMORPG is probably actually technically on topic, I think.
