Well, Savage 2 is an online game, but it lacks any kind of persistency. Each game starts and end like a starcraft battle.net game. Nothing more, nothing less.
The fact that your account keep track of your win/loss ratio and calculate an "experience" value (that has no in-game effect whatsoever) to show how good a player you are, is nothing different from what virtually all other single-player games do for their multiplayer part. The only catch? Savage has no single player part .
Bottom line? Interesting game ,but mmorpg.com is no place for it.

The original Savage was an FPS/RTS - IIRC. There is a similar mod for Half-Life 1 called Natural Selection, its a FPS/RTS, its probably one of the smallest but coolest genres of games I have played.

Not always the case, Starcraft and probably Warcraft, there were a few maps in the story where you had a limited number of characters. Command and Conquer: Red Alert (1 or 2)? Had a few maps that also had a similar layout.
There was also some maps that restricted you to one character via the Use Map Settings feature.
Take Natural Selection, as a Marine Commander, I control a team of marines, I can tell them where to go, and what not, I would play from an RTS perspective. I get my team of marines upgrades, better weapons, armor, jetpacks, the like, and each individual marine is controlled by a player somewhere in the world and see things as an FPS.

Actually this is a different case and that is prolly why Rubydragon thought it was a MMorpg.
one player of each team is the commander and will play the game typical RTS fashion, but everybody else is an action player and will play the game in first person mode, RPG or FPS style, i am not sure if the combat is twitch based or not.

The first one was ok, a lot of fun once you got the hang of it. Really frantic.
Holy crap I love this game! Can't wait for this one...
I played Natural-Selection for couole of years and it is the best mod ever... I wouldnt go that far to say it's the best game but it is very good.
This game will kick ass if devs put it well togather.
EDIT: Spelling...
