Rev up the EverQuest 3 speculation. According to a posting over at Jobvite.com, Daybreak Game Company is sponsoring a job fair on July 26th. Our own Rob Lashley found out that the studio is hiring over forty developers across a number of job positions and projects.

Just who has dumped a ton of cash into their pockets recently because salaries don't come out of a kegerator.
Whatever game they're making it's always better to have more games on the market.
Have not yet though. Maybe there is hope?
Nah there is really none for me or the human race.
That's not true at all. Also, it's clipped from the DBG posting, soooooooo, your entirely wrong. Now, if they said Code Monkey then maybe you'd have a case, but you're acting as though Programmer is some sort of derogatory term.
For what it's worth, if we're using literals, I've met plenty of Programmers and very few Software Developers.

Love Minecraft. And check out my Youtube channel OhCanadaGamer
Try a MUD today at http://www.mudconnect.com/It will be dumbed down and as cookie cutter as it can possibly be. I just have no faith in this company whatsoever.
Don't expect it to be EQ.

Waiting For: CU & Vanilla WoW
While I don't necessarily think it's EQ 3 I'm curious what you know that we don't?
"If you know anything about daybreak".
Do tell? Because they did buy a company with an already established brand. My thought is they will want to capitalize on that brand at some point. Maybe not an mmo but "something" everquestesque ...

Maybe this recruitment is geared towards something new - mobile perhaps - but given the spread of posts filling internal vacancies is just as likely. Companies "always" have staff "leaving" - they retire, die, wife/husband gets a job elsewhere and so on; 4% a year is considered "low" for a normal secure company going about its business; when things are "uncertain" a company can easily be looking at 10% a year.
Still this has to be seen as good news. And if there is something new that would be a bonus.
Now if they announce a job fair for a few hundred vacancies then - maybe - one can speculate about EQ3.....
Lol, yeah. A Programmer also appreciates a good rotary debugger.
Also, and this is just purely tongue-in-cheek, but do people really expect to be called Software Developers or Software Engineers when they are most interested in Agile? I mean the Agile Manifesto is effectively, "Don't worry about documentation, just make it work." I mean just because some guys found a flashy way to say that doesn't mean squat! That's what Programmers have been doing for years, lol. There's nothing elegant or refined about it.
Sweet man!!! Mine is/was too! Actually, she was promoted to a Sr. VP of Domestic Analysis just recently. That being said, she's decided to look for something new since she's managed to achieve full automation of the domestic space.

That seems needlessly massive. 40 positions is ginormous for mobile but quite normal for an MMO.
Some young person starting out is going to want to add to his/her resume. Why not the company that owns one of the original mmo's?
I mean, if you are starting out in the game business, which is better? Getting a few guys together to try to make a small game that you may or may not finish or getting paid with better benefits from a more sizeable company?

Let's not forget that DBG is 2 years old now. For a company that's been "slowly burning into non-existence" since their inception, I'd say they're doing alright.
Secondly, Columbus Nova isn't like a noob or something. They have an EXTENSIVE technology portfolio. My guess is that they have a better idea on how to run a tech company than what Sony did, especially considering the state of Sony right now. Why would someone want to work at DBG? Ummmmmmm, sooooooooooo many opportunities for movement and progression. You're making it seem like joining DBG would be like hopping onto a sinking ship, but it's actually quite sturdy and it's not just a ship, but an armada.
