World of Warcraft News - It appears that more Diablo 3-like content is coming to World of Warcraft in v7.3. Dataminers over at IcyVeins.com have uncovered both the "Depleted Riftstone" and the "Charged Riftstone", the latter of which "allows entry into Lesser Rifts and Greater Rifts". Diablo 3 players will be intimately familiar with the term as the content sending players (solo or in groups) into randomly generated locations with tiered difficulty.

I love both games for different reasons. I really don't like this continued effort to combine the two. Make World of Diablo and keep that universe out of Warcraft.

More homogenization between the two.. these tactics chased me away in the first place, from both titles. I do hope the current player base finds this exciting, doesn't matter what I and the rest of the sour posse think.

Yea, like I mentioned in that other thread regarding a Diablo MMO, it is highly unlikely Blizzard will ever make one because they clearly are just putting Diablo aspects into WoW, instead (whether or not you like how they're doing it is another matter, of course).

If Blizzard was even considering making a Diablo MMO, they'd probably stop putting Diablo stuff into WoW.

I've been done with WoW for awhile now and think Blizzard is evil lol. For me they are just a company that has too much money and isn't doing enough with it all except lining their pockets instead of pouring some of those billions into an MMO and creating the next big "WoW 2.0".

Still sour about Titan turning into Overwatch, which I think is such a copout, but I digress.

I've been saying for years that if WoW could institute Diablo's precedurely generated dungeons, for that matter, every MMO should do it. One day you make a left and the next day you go into same dungeon you make a right instead. Even mixing up the bosses should be done as well to keep content from getting old.

What WoW has been doing with scaling difficulties is awesome, but just too little too late.

WoW ran into the same problems EQ did: You can only have so many expansions before your MMO starts to go down the toilet.

...and yet, WoW Legion is still alive and well. A lot more .. "well" then say .. Pandaria or Warlords.

That's contrary to your "definition" ..I am afraid.

The alternative is to have no expansions, which isn't really good for revenue and also really not very good for the longevity of a theme park (which is something that relies on new content to keep the player base playing)

This works very well in D3 but not in WoW. Gearing up in Legion takes RNG to a whole new level and it's why I played that expansion the least.

More things to do is good in my book. I do not really play Diablo a lot so I like it.

Have to disagree with you on this one, the only good idea's wow has these days are the ones they are cherry picking from diablo.

another thought is that they could be testing how Diablo things work with the WOW crowd to try and draw people into a D4 MMO

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this. More content is always a good thing. This in particular is great, if it is truly procedurally generated and for the solo player. Unlimited content you can do by yourself? Yes, please. It certainly beats some of the stuff they've wasted time developing in the past - like selfie sticks and Twitter integration.

wow still has 3-4 major plot points left that blizzard could drag out over multiple expansions( like WoD). they easily could have the game go another decade without making new shit up.

im pretty sure adding diablo related stuff is just blizzard adding more rides to the park just for the sake of adding more rides to the park. not some attempt to intertwine the universes.

I still think Pandaria was a better xpac than both Warlords and Legion. They've destroyed PvP, destroyed crafting, created more grind, and even the storytelling got worse imo. I did enjoy the WoW movie though, so maybe I'm just crazy.

This is why I quit WoW. Not because I dislike the game, but because I won't support a developer with as much money and (alleged) talent as Blizzard being this fucking LAZY. There's absolutely no excuse for it. If I'm paying a monthly fee, I want that money to go toward creating original content, not copy-pasting systems from their other games.

It's no secret I'm not a huge fan of Path of Exile, but I do respect Grinding Gear Games for trying. Those guys have nowhere near the bankroll of Blizzard, yet they put out more content for free in a year than Blizzard does in three for any of their games, and none of it is transplanted from some other title. It may have similarities with some systems from competing ARPGs, but ultimately it's mostly fresh stuff. The fact it's not to my particular tastes is irrelevant; they deserve a lot of credit for the work they do.

Blizzard used to excel at taking things from other games and putting their own spin on them, almost always making them better. Now they've devolved into simply ripping themselves off. I work very hard for very little, and I'm not handing out that cash to a developer which obviously doesn't work hard to earn what money I have to spend on entertainment. It's lazy, pathetic, and highly insulting.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Anyone else still think the Nazgrim fight from SoO is still one of WoW's best raid fights mechanically?

Rifts were the worst thing to happen to D3 imo. It turned it into a roguelike time trial endgame. The classic random map drops done by other aRPGs is the better method. Blizzard tried something different, that's cool, but it's not for me. Especially the set piece dungeons.. my god.. nothing like giving you ridiculous amounts of skills and loot and then forcing you play a certain way. Hate it. WoW isn't going to benefit from that type of game play, it changes the essence of what these games are supposed to be.
