man all this bitching over a free game.  sorry , if you hate it so much then don't play, but don't be delusional and think that complaining and putting down the people that are enjoying it is going to change a thing.  name one time that complaining on a MMORPG.com forum has made a dev change their game.
I've been back and forth on the game, and yes there are things that I prefer from the old game and thing I prefer from the new game but I'm not going to come here and talk shit about someone elses opinion.  I can say this, right now, I'm having more fun than I had before oberall .  that may change over time.  If it does, I can stop playing and play something else.
Some people whine and complain about everything.  Even when that something is free.

They call it having "higher standards."

    /laughs
yea, they feel the need to belittle anyone that has a different opinion than they do.

I wonder the IQ of a person who believes any F2P game is actually free, and how much purple kool-aid would they have drank in Jonestown.

Hey guys newsflash, if a former subscription title gets repackaged as a stripped down F2P game, don't you dare say anything about things that are wrong. It's free... charity even!

I dont know about the gullible, but I haven't spent a penny to this day, and I am just as viable as anyone else and most importantly, having a blast.

Don't blame anyone else for your inability to play a game without the comforting crutch of your handy credit card.

Maybe it does take a higher IQ to make it happen.  Perhaps you should give that a wonder instead.

Funcom overplaying their hand. So surprising. I doubt that this will be enough change. Maybe they should attract some decent game designers for their next project to replace some marketeers :p Because they certainly didn't have any for this overhaul.

They should get out of the MMORPG business and stick to single player games, or smaller scale multiplayer. The Longest Journey series is great. Although the main talent behind that series (and TSW for that matter) split off to start their own company (RedThread Games), FC still owns the 'Longest Journey' IP. The Park and such are great games as well, or even smaller scale multiplayer games, like Conan Exiles.

They've had 3 really nice, unique ideas for MMORPGs... and have made terrible decisions with all of them. They are one of the few developers out there who will actually try something new/different, and break away from the standard, themepark/cookie-cuttter approach to everything. They just can not seem to keep it together on the business side of it.

They should play to their strengths, and stick to single player stuff from now on. Make more single player games in The Secret World setting; that would be awesome.

I've defended FC for years, across their various MMOs, including TSW... but man they make it freaking difficult.

This Kool-Aid is free. It will make you even more viable. Have some.

AO was the one they should have worked on but instead they wasted years trying to tinker with the graphics and it really never worked...I logged in about a month ago and the game was a total graveyard...Its a real shame what happened to this.

They have stated many times now, that the rewards for the ARG will arrive on the 5th, which is patch day.

ok so what's the excuse for the rest?

I contacted their "customer service" a week (or more) ago about my account, was supposed to receive a reply within "one business day", nothing

Faster exit than when i played the original game.5 minutes.
Still the same old crap with a very poor design.

just a few notes on poor design.
    1 linear
    2 phasing of creatures
3 controls are awful and why targeting is often a really bad idea for some games.Needing too many keybinds is bad, overall the controls are way too cumbersome.

predictability, you know when it is time to fight the boss and is basically lots of instancing.

I said it before about Funcom, they do NOT know how to make mmo's,they should stick to single player,at least that way expectations would be less. The problem of course is that there is no way for them to recover money unless they sell game outright ,so they aimed for a cash shop instead, either way the game is of low value to me.

sure the concept behind the game is a good to interesting one,but a developer can ruin even good concepts with bad implementation.in all my experience with Funcom, they just DON'T have it when comes to MMO game design.

My biggest complaint is the cooldown timer on repeat missions for non patron players. I can understand it being longer than it is for patron but 3 days compared to 8 hours for patron is a bit much and punishes f2p players.
If they don't make serious changes to how Tokyo works, people will be unable to progress there with 3 days cooldowns, it's gonna be sub or quit. Also, i didn't think i'll ever see a premium title developed by non-asian devs where you, as a subscriber, have to buy inventory space with real money. This whole new "relaunch" seems to be designed by accountants.

No need for any excuse, for anything.

Customer support for online games is always quick, always really helpful, and always ready to resolve any issue to the customers satisfaction - Said nobody. Ever.

So you contacted them and they are busy, so you have to wait, big deal, you could probably pick any MMO out there and have the exact same result.

Does it suck? sure, but how does whining here about it solve anything?

Two changes i want to see, quit using the term Patron and issue a free trial, otherwise all the talk in the world is just biased and carries no weight what so ever.

Without backing up your product it all just looks like advertising and if you can't back up your product,it really tells more the truth of your product.
You do realize this is a F2P game.  Don't know what the hell you are talking about free trial.  As far as Patron goes it is just a word for subscriber or supporter of the game.  So really no idea where you were going!

Can't let something silly like facts get in the way of a good rant. ;)

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Well, see. Funcon has a history of milking their previous IP to fund their next. Unfortunately, they've had everything from insider trading scandals to being delisted on stock exchanges to just plain financial incompetence and they milked everything long ago. So they need money, since they've just announced they're making a strategy title. So, how to milk their 3 remaining pretty-much-dead games and their already dying in early release Conan "survival game" to fund the next cash grab? That's easy: put AO and AoC into maintenance mode with no further development while "delaying" everything they can in Conan Exiles and then "revamp" ( by removing half the game, in both mechanics and content ) and "relaunch" TSW as a free to play, cash shop heavy atm machine.
Lego Minifigures Online was another title they abandoned and should be included in the mix especially since it was an MMOG with cash shop + membership/sub.

There was also The Park http://store.steampowered.com/app/402020/The_Park/
