Question about FFXI account...

in Final Fantasy XI

I have bought FFXI: Vanadiel Collection about September last year (2005) and played the game for a bout a month and then quit. If I want to return to the game right now do I have to buy a new copy of the game or can I simply reactivate my account? I am confused about this so called Content ID that expires, can someone clarify for me ? Thanks.

    You don't have to purchase a new game.

    All you have to do is reactivate your account using the same serial key that you entered the first time. under the content ID menu just click on "reactivate content ID", enter your ID and password, and you should be able to find it.

    If it has been deleted (due to long periods of inactivity, as mine did), then you can just go under "Purchase content ID" and enter your same old serial key with that. It will only charge you for the month subscription, and NOT for another game.

    EDIT: forgot to mention, if your content ID was deleted (expired), then that means all your characters are gone too. :(  I don't know how long they wait before removing ID's, but if it's more than 6 months then the chance is there.
