Yeah I read one of the comics where he was in Guardians and was like whoa what is he doing here? I didn't know Human Torch was part of the avengers..that is interesting. There are rumors of Reed Richards coming back for the Marvel Legacy comics as well

I wouldn't hold your breath for Marvel legacy, they just don't have the artists or the writers these days that can sell comics, they went too SJW and Marvels comic sales have never been so bad, its kind of tragic really what happened to Marvel Comics, their reputation is so far in the gutter its just sad.

Comic sales are down about 3 percent year after year, and that's across the board with DC and Image too.  But in the top 10 best selling comics for the year.. most of them are Marvel.

Marvel comics are some of the most diverse, just about every character has some alternate form that is either female, a minority, or homosexual.

Whats sad is that Fox has ruined the Fantastic Four so much, that even people in this thread think they are bad (Likely due to the Movies portrayal). The comics were some of the best selling comics in history and were selling well even when they broke up the Fantastic Four. (The Thing is still around and I believe so is The Human Torch)

As a kid I grew up on the F4 comics and they were and are awesome! :-)

Gutted. I really wanted to complete everything FF as I only have The Thing, Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom.. I was a big fan of the Fantastic Four cartoons of the 90s but never the films. After I finished the Guardians of the Galaxy set, wanted to start on Ff.

hmm, i'm a bit confused with the information in this article. let me lay down my knowledge of the ownership of the fantastic four:

the movie rights: are owned by constantin film germany. fox only has a partnership with them.
the tv rights: should be in the hand of marvel entertainment
the merchandise rights: should be in the hand of marvel entertainment too

btw similar situation with the x-men rights. fox owns the movie rights, but not the complete tv rights (f.e. over the latest show 'legion' fox had to made a seperate deal with marvel entertainment or ryan reynolds had to get permission from marvel for the power setup changes for Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool) and the merchandise rights are still at marvel entertainment.

and are dr doom, the moleman and other characters from the fantastic four universe still embedded in the games content? and if fox is behind it, why not remove deadpool and the x-men too?

my best guess, fox doesn't have anything to do with the removal of the fantastic four and the silver surfer, something else is cooking,

Difficult to say what happens when you get a bunch of lawyers in a room to hash things out.  Perhaps someone wants to start a new game?

Moleman was removed too, which is also a shame. He had a really nice medallion, that was good for leveling.

Probably boils down to F4 not selling anymore since most people playing MH probably already have them so there's no point renewing the license. I'm guessing there will probably be more stuff removed later for the same reason.

I don't know if they have individual hero licenses with individual expiration dates to work with here, but their Marvel license itself expires some time in 2019. It's possible that they're just trying to play nice with Disney/Marvel.

The CEO recently stated on stream that they recently signed a renewal for 5 years. It's unclear if that's just for consoles, but it likely includes the PC license. Gazillion relies on Marvel being happy with them.

It's Marvel/Disney's fault for them being removed. But the lack of any real notice other than one on the forum that was quickly removed, makes this a REALLY crappy move. There should have been 30 days notice to get them with in game currency. the notice should have been provided in game on the login screen, via email and on the forums.

I can see a possibility of the game eventually being ditched on the PC if the consoles end up making up most of their income. I could also see them ditching a console if it lags waay behind the other.

The problem, from my understanding, is that Marvel wants those rights back, and Fox won't do it. So, Marvel has been going out of it's way, for a while now, to minimize those franchises. It's why we're seeing the death of the X-Men and the rise of the Inhumans. They can explore the same stories with Inhumans that they could with X-Men except they own the film rights to Inhumans so they can all be tied in to the larger Marvel Movie Universe.

Marvel is using what power they have over those groups to minimize them. They are basically telling Fox if they don't give the rights back to them then they'll burn it all to the ground.

Well the game is trash now anyway, so I doubt many people care.

Sucks for those that do actually care though. Licensing BS has ruined so many things not only in gaming, but across life in general.

Supposedly the console releases have breathed new life into the game, but for how long who knows. It's horribly buggy and has no end game content at the moment.

Console players apparently weren't spending enough on costumes, so they've implemented a system where you have to gamble for the costumes you want.  All within the first few weeks of release ....

believe me I know. Its been bad. They added those boxes on launch with all the costumes, but they went through iterations in open beta bilking customers out of money by "running sales" on them and then changing the box drop rates and advertising them just days afterwards.

The game is fine,  I hate the loot boxes, but it's the company that I'd be wary of.

I don't play much now because of all the changes but I remain hopeful and will check in now and then.

I think this is the wrong approach for them and it won't end well. It's obvious when a company shifts how they sell a game that much in a short periods of time they're really unsure of their strategy going forward and how to make it all work.
I hope they can figure something out that works.  Another problem is, when they make the community mad, they just shrug it off.  I'm told this wasn't always the case before the management change.  But you're absolutely right, it seems like they are unsure of a direction and they are just trying things.  They even said on a recent stream they don't have a "roadmap" for the console versions.

Propably under NDA for renewal license and thats why the said thread was removed.

Blame House of Mouse for this. Its all pretty petty to piss fans. If i was in movie right charge i would never, ever give them back to Marvel, only to piss those assholes more.

Sometimes it boils down to one top executive who doesn't like Dr. Doom for what-ever reason.

Reminds me of when the CEO who was in charge of the SYFY network said he really didn't like Science Fiction at all and added wrestling, ghost hunters reality shows, and less Sci-Fi shows. Now that he's gone the station is returning to it's roots.

I've read lots of stories about Execs killing off shows because they just didn't like them or didn't like the original writer.

Made me think about the Star Wars License. Luke is quoted in the movie as saying it's time for the Jedi to end. I think it's really Disney saying it's time for the Lucas version of Jedi to end because they have other plans and their own vision.

Maybe, and I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, but I like the idea of Luke being more of a grey jedi, which we've seen a lot in games but less so in movies.

I don't think execs hate Dr. Doom... I'm not a big fan of Dr. Doom, but one thing I know from the comics and shows I've seen from Dr. Doom is that he's a calculating character, not a brute force of nature like Magneto is. To do it right you'd have to build up to a Dr. Doom scenario, and in the Fantastic Four movies thus far it seems they throw him out immediately as the classic F4 villain.

With as bad as they've done Dr. Dooms character in the films, they'll never come back from what they did to Galactus.

Good points.  I also read a lot of studios are going for basic plots which translate easily in foreign languages and adding more action and special effects.

If it was that simple they could remove the renewal notice and keep the notice on removing the FF.  And so I think it's more than just that
