Have you heard of Foxhole? I’m sure some of you have, but don’t feel bad if the answer is no. Until developer Clapfoot’s PR agency asked us to talk with the studio, we didn’t either. Then we played the game, launching into Early Access today on Steam, and we’re now very big fans. Read on for our hands-on preview of this unique persistent war MMO.

I have to agree, early access = cash grab at this point.

Sounds like a really fun game, but these "war games" are inevitably tainted by Cash Shop shenanigans.

Their site claims they want to run off game sales only. So we'll see. No cash shop planned.

Admit I have stopped paying attention to early access.  Thanks for the review however maybe someday it will be a game.

Sounds good, but it's early days yet, promises are easy to make... and break. If Early Access sales don't meet expectations, what will happen next ?

Just came here and saw what you guys said, I can see why you don't want it because it's EA and won't try and convince you to buy it, though it was in a F2P pre-alpha for testing and I've been playing it for awhile now and it's a lot more of a full game than any other EA game I've played recently. I just wanted to reassure you it isn't some half-assed game.

love alot of EA games, that doesnt discourage me some good some bad some pay out in time, but generally get my moneys worth vs playtime. Looks interesting reminds me alot of running with rifles which is also on steam been out for awhile but different art style for graphics. Dont think ill buy this have to many games on the go as it is but will see if population/reviews are good may get it down the road.

not at all into pvp type games, but must admit this looks like it might be interesting and fun. will wait and see what it becomes if/when full release.

I have been following this game for some time with interest... if they maintain the no cash shop.. I will buy it.

The top-down kind of spoils it for me. First person or over-the-shoulder view, putting me right into the action at ground level, is what I look for in an MMO. I'm also disappointed that there's no air force, but again, with a top-down view, it wouldn't work, or it wouldn't be the same.

Nice to see the sandbox play and some persistence.

ya, in their defense, they had a very long pre-alpha where the game was free. So basically they didn't start charging until after they added enough content and after a lot of public testing.

People are expecting something just because a game goes "full release". We've left that world behind. This is how smaller companies/developers get games out to us now.
As far as the state of quality in EA, it is excellent. I've encountered a few minor bugs, but so far nothing major. One of the most complete EAs I've supported. Also, I buy EA on some games just to support the developers because I think the idea is neat. It's not for everyone, but I do hate that some companies have released under EA early pre-alpha stage games. This game would be in beta on old school terms as far as design and completion.
Very well done and smooth. Still on the fence whether I actually like the entire concept of the game. If you're on the fence about it but like the idea, then I would 100% tell you to go ahead and get it (for a measly $18 on steam right now btw), because it is solidly done as is. A side note: 93% approval on steam right now.

Unfortunately, enough EA developers have abandoned their projects in an unfinished state to make players wary, and rightly so. Not that you aren't right, btw, only that once burned twice shy still applies.

I have to admit, I have not heard of this game. Reading up about it, it does sound very interesting. HOWEVER I have that many games that are currently in Early Access mode of which there is quite a sizable chunk that seem to have just ceased development.
So i am apprehensive at going for any more Early Access games (especially when there is also Citadel forged by fire and Dark and Light that have also just hit the EA scene as well as a game i pre-ordered WWO (Wild West Online).
Foxhole will have to join the other 2 EA games and just be on the watch and wait area.
