No Man's Sky News - After probably one of the quietest years in post-release game development, Hello Games has announced Atlas Rises, a long-awaited update to No Man's Sky. It is set for release on or near the anniversary of the game's deployment on August 9, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC/Steam. The free update aims to improve the story and will allow players to "quick travel" throughout the game universe.

This game is one of a kind, deep inside we love it but were afraid to say it out load.

everyone loved the game before it was released, in till they found out how much of a empty one trick pony it was, hence the backlash.

then they tried to blame hype, misunderstanding of the game an been a indie game but the truth is it was half baked concept that they thought they could sell an make better with a sequel.

if the game was released today with all these free content updates already part of base game it would been a different outcome but that a irrelevant truth.

I'm waiting for the patch notes to see if they've fixed being thrown over the landscape like a flat stone on water when you exit the Roamer exocraft. The furthest I was skipped was about 4:40 away from the Roamer.

Too bad I'm way too deep into Elite Dangerous on the PS4 right now (traveling to Sag A* and taking my sweet time). I might give NMS a go again for a bit, but I don't expect to be playing it a lot though...

Just bought the game on PS4 a few weeks ago and absolutely love the game. I think waiting for so long to purchase the game help as the base building and such had already came out. One of my favorite games now.

Story line? I thought it was supposed to be a totally open, truly Sandbox kind of game. And as I remember it, a lot of the disappointment was because you could reach the center of the galaxy (the one goal in the game) a lot faster than had been indicated, and faster travel won't help that. The other big disappointment that I recall was that you couldn't actually meet and interact with other players in the game, even if you happened to be in the same place at the same time it didn't really allow any interaction. They don't seem to be working on that. Was it not a problem after all? Or those who love it don't care about that?

i don't have the game but i don't criticize it either. The only reason i lost complete interest in getting this game is the fact that i cannot explore that huge world with a couple of friends. I don't mind it not being multiplayer, but coop should have been there.
