I think Alpha is $80 right? Not $40... or are they doing some special first few days for everyone?

I'm on the fence and would like to hear from people who are playing the game.

Can you guys give your opinions on how it is or is there a NDA?

Not worth it from what I see. You can check out Dauntless on twitch for that.

    - only 4 types of weapons
    - not many different attack moves per weapon
    - I had troubles with aiming and hitting, was facing the behemoth, but yet I would swing in a different direction. It might have been lag or input delay, but still.
    - "heavy" movement, can't call it clunky
    - menus I would call clunky
    - a city as hub (no complaint), but you can't access anything, even the open buildings have an invisible wall
    - couldn't change key bindings
    - "lifeless" islands, it has trees, foliage and some wildlife, but it feels dead

They plan to go in closed Beta on sept 1st, that worries me, for an Alpha the game is playable. A couple of hours a day, maybe longer when the company is good. Just to report bugs, test mechanics and give feedback. I would wait for tweaks, polish and content.

2 week "Alpha Test"? Pretty hysterical.

If I had plunked down the $80 I'd be pissed.

I don't understand why people pay $80 for f2p early access game that's not going to have longevity.

I think people just really want that PC Monster Hunter experience. This just doesn't look to be that right now.

I no longer like the term ALPHA or Beta because in reality they should all be using one term >>>BUG testing.None of these games/devs are serious about their game or what others think, they already have their minds made up,they want your money and will be careful to word promises and how to lure you in.

To me an Alpha test should be to test game ideas,to see if they are going to be both accepted and any good in practical use.Beta would be closer to the final version but would still mean changes could happen.

In reality the entire setup of mmorpg's from day 1 is a bait and switch. They want to do enough and promise enough to get people to give them money before they deserve it.Then the only say or forums are for those giving them money in hopes of nothing but 100% positive forums and positive marketing via the internet word of mouth.

The ONLY thing these tests do is make those dumb enough to give away free money before the should be to feel SPECIAL.Truth is WHY would you need to label it as an Alpha or Beta if those founders have access to the product every step of the way?Well back to square one, they are trying to bait people into giving them money if they want to see the product,so here we are 2017,you need to pay just to get a glimpse, unlike going to the store and actually seeing, handling and knowing most everything you need to know about a purchase...including refunds,BEFORE you hand over any money.
So in essence studios want you to spend money on a blind whim....hmmm seems fair..pffft.

The only real question is 'is it Monster Hunter on PC?' If yes, get excited, if anything less, forget about it. It looks like less although the MH fan in me still got a little giddy. If only 4 weapons is true that would be a massive disappointment.

It's nowhere near Monster Hunter on PC.

Rather than wasting your money with this game, just endure till next year for Monster Hunter World, it'll be far better.

Games like Absolver and Dauntless seem like cool combat systems with absolutely nothing else. It gets really boring after a few fights. The environments look the same, and there's not really any mechanics for the creatures. Couple that with the fact that the crafting/weapon systems are basic as hell too. It should be a mobile game.

You'd probably have more fun doing dungeons in TERA or Blade & Soul.

spend 80$ for you dont know get what shitty game you get and become a founder of yet another shitty title who will stay in early acess forever.

i will not spend with no trial, and if they dont wipe i will never play either.

i have spend probably way way way to much on these shitty cash grab the past 7-8 years
and now it get even worst...

some year ago the beta was still free and website like mmorpg.com were giving cd key for try the games, then you buy the alpha founder or whatever the company wanted to call it...

i was fine with it because YOU PLAYED and know what you get...

now alpha, early acess, with no trial.

fuk them, im done being a fool who spend my money like a monkey

Now THATS a thing of beauty. Tbh, I was more excited for MHXX on the Switch but apperently the idiots at Capcom cancelled the english version, or at least postponed it indefinitely. I am however a bit scared about the controls on this one, way too much mobility..

Kinda disappointed .. both the footage, gameplay as well as possible futures for the game. Good luck to the devs though

I don't know why ppl keep saying the alpha cost 80, does people have very bad math skill or something cos it doesn't. You are paying 80 for alpha and more. The lowest founder tier is 40 and it get you beta, for 30 more it get you that close beta plus some items. Then on top of that extra 30 , if you pay another 10 you get the alpha plus more items. So in a way the alpha only cosy 10 bucks. Even if you take away all the items as some might think they are crap , the alpha is still only 40 as the other 40 is beta.

Note: the items included 90 day patrons status, and if they patron status cost like 10 bucks similar to archeage with similar product, it'd mean you getting 30 dollar or something on the line of that amount of things.

Can I buy Alpha access as a stand alone?  If so please link it for me.

No u can't, but thats the same as other game like revelation online where alpha is not stand alone

In 10 days the closed beta starts making the access lower to 40$, not any big point on even spending 80$ just to play it now.
