Destiny 2 News - Destiny 2 PC will be 'region-locked' according to the region players have set on the BattleNet launcher. The "lock" will default to the BattleNet launcher setting, though players will be able to jump to other regions by selecting them next to the "play" button. Regions include Americas, Europe, and Asia.

It's not necessarily a region lock if you can just go switch it at will to play wherever you want. It's just the same system as Diablo and Starcraft. I'm fine with this, most matchmaking in Destiny will never put you with people from another country anyways.

Thats a relief, i live in the UK but i would rather play on the NA servers than the EU ones, being locked to the EU servers would be a deal breaker. :)

Kind of, you stated it was a region lock but you could change it. I was just saying it's not even really a region lock if you can do that. Usually with region locks you have to use a VPN or a similar program to get into the region.

So D2 news could have said the game won't be region locked.  Which it did say but took it's time getting there.

Assuming this works like Diablo, I don't know why people say this is a good thing. Your items/characters don't cross over so if you have friends in multiple regions you basically have to play on different accounts (no cost at least). There's only one system that is more restrictive than this and that's hard region locking, but in today's world there's literally no reason for a company like Blizzard to have regions at all.

Character progress is cross regions, like Overwatch, played on both regions, and progress was the same, which is good.
