When I caught word that NeocoreGames, the developer behind The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, was taking their ARPG talents to the Warhammer 40,000 Universe I have to admit I was intrigued. As a long time fan of Van Helsing 1(check out my review here) and 2 I was interested to see how NeocoreGames would implement their unique design philosophies to both an established IP and genre.

Eh. Van Helsing I was okay, but hardly outstanding in any way. Van Helsing II was playable, but it was clear they lost whatever touch they may have had. Skipped Van Helsing III because it got even worse reviews than II. You didn't mention III, so i guess you haven't played it either. Whats keeping you if the first two games are so good?

Add that Warhammer games rarely make the cut (Dawn of War, and maybe Total War are the only "top" ones, Vermintide is playable, but gets old fast and has it's issues), i wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I'm always looking for a new coop ARPG, i'd love for this to be incredible, but i doubt it.

Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

Awesome game that runs like a dog tbh, it needs an insane amount of optimalisation. What I was able to play was good fun though.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I actually enjoyed Victor Vran more than Van Helsing...check it out if you haven't heard of it. This game looks promising though, especially with the randomly generated tile sets making the maps vary more than just a little bit. Will definitely be watching this games progress, as I have been waiting for something to fill the ARPG gap currently in my life. D3/Torchlight/PoE are just too played out for me at this point. 40K is a great universe for this kinda game - just hope it doesn't fall on it's face like DoW 3.

I completely agree that it's steep, but it seems to be on par with other 40k licensed games. Must be really expensive to use their universe.

There's not enough ARPGs out there for me so hoping for this one. If they get it right, fighting in the 40K Universe would be great!
