I’ve Played Destiny 2’s live version for about an hour so far, maybe more. And I can already tell you all it’s far better than the original was. Is it “Just More Destiny”? Yes, but it’s also got more heart, more story, a better explorable “world” and tons of quality of live improvements. It’s making the wait for the PC (and in my opinion better) version feel that much longer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This makes me excited. Do they allow you to matchmake for raids yet, or nightfalls. Because that was a huge downside to the game before. I hated finding groups on external websites just to do content.

First Raid isn't in until 9/12, I think. BUT, there's a nice Clan Tab so you can actually have in-game clans and organize there. Doesn't seem to be active yet, though.

Does it have more than 30 hours of content?  That was one of the biggest issues with the original.

Supposedly..... I don't like that bar, though. First off, it's more like 12 hours. Secondly, even being 12 hours, that puts it in the top 20% of allllllll 14,000 games listed on HowLongToBeat.com. If it was 30 hours, that would put it in the top 5% of all games.

Crazy, I know. Just thought I'd throw some perspective your way. The reality is that even the first game wasn't as content-lacking as many made it out to be. The expansions? Meh, yeah, maybe. However, even taking that into consideration they APPARENTLY addressed the issue of content with Destiny 2. We'll see I guess.

It's funny how we are beginning to praise a MMO with basic & fundamental features as something great. I am, perhaps, seeing the reasoning behind Destiny 1's total lackluster of a game and that is so its sequel will look spectacular in comparison just for owning up to the minimum expectations of a triple AAA title.

    Smart marketing lol

Or (and I know it's crazy) some people just like games you don't and enjoy them for what they are, not what they wish or think they would or should be....

Or the original Destiny was a fun game that lacked certain features. Just because something doesn't have every feature in existence doesn't mean it's lackluster. It just means that it lacked those features. I know plenty of people who have dumped 2k + hours into Destiny, those specific people really like the new features added on to the game they already enjoy.

We'll see how it goes, won't we? For now enjoy of course. The honeymoon phase of a fresh game and especially a new triple AAA title is always enjoyable. It should be otherwise these giants wouldn't be in business. I still remember my hype and love for several games in the past during the release. If you like it, then that's good. But I'm just not convinced of any progress since my time with Destiny 1.

I've taken a step back from the Destiny hype and I've been waiting for the game to actually come out before learning about it. Yet, I just learned the game only features 4v4 pvp. Wow, was this a turn off as the larger the map and teams the more interesting and fun I find shooters. My favorite part of Halo game's were Big Team Battles. Might just be giving this a pass now since there's so many other games coming out this Fall.

I'm just really happy they failed to meet the deadline for PC release and now all of us that preordered can have the game/lore/story spoiled for us before we ever get to log in.

Bleh this is not an mmo.  The bar has been set so low for quality lately, as earlier poster said.

Is there actually exploration in D2? Anything to find and do while exploring? I liked the detail of the environment, but it was 99% non-interactive (there were a few explosive objects)

    Same here.

Off topic: I have been enjoying your new music themed avatars. Not a bad one yet. Did you know that Ringo Starr took the cover photo of that album? My favorite track is the title track. The off kilter drum beat and guitar riff is sublime! Also check out Guns&Roses version of Buick McCane on "The Spaghetti Incident?". It's a mix of that and "Big Dumb Sex" by Soundgarden.

After playing for about 3 hours yesterday, I have to say I'm enjoying this far more than the original Destiny, and I already enjoyed the first one quite a bit. It's so much more story driven this time, and the way missions are set up feels a lot better than before.

Although there are some bad things that I don't agree with like shaders being a one time use, and the boxes in the cash shop potentially giving out armor and weapon mods.

But I can look past those things, if the game itself is really good which it is. I can't wait to get off work to play some more. That doesn't happen very often.
